Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: Hidden from the World and the Beginner’s Gift

Nyx felt something click in his mind. He froze as a cold chill ran down his spine.

"I'm... in the Marvel universe," he whispered, realizing what was happening.

A notification appeared before his eyes:

---

[Passive Skill Activated]

Cold-Blooded — Your emotions are suppressed, your thinking stabilized. Fear and panic no longer hinder decision-making.

---

The world became clearer. His thoughts calmer. His heart was still pounding, but he was no longer consumed by anxiety.

"Marvel. One of the most dangerous worlds that could ever exist..."

Nyx began to analyze.

"There's no safety here. No wall, no lock will protect you if, one day, an alien fleet tears through the sky. Here, interdimensional invasions aren't fiction—they're history. Thanos could erase half of all life. There are those who rule time—the Time Keepers. And the Ancient One, who once protected Earth from threats that could warp reality itself. Behind every quiet day, ancient entities, godlike beings, and secret wars lurk in the shadows—wars the average person will never know about."

"The Ancient One… the Time Keepers…" the thought flashed through his mind.

He knew who they were. And he understood that in this world, any unexplained surge of power could attract the attention of beings who could erase him from existence with a single decision.

"If the system isn't part of this world, then it's already breaking its laws. And where there's disruption, there's... oversight."

He clenched his jaw.

"If the Ancient One senses I'm a threat… if the Time Keepers decide my timeline deviates too much..." He fell silent as a shiver ran down his spine. "They could just… erase me. No trial. No fight."

...He leaned back, staring at the ceiling. The weight of possible consequences pressed heavily on his chest. And then—a sudden, silent click.

A new system message appeared before his eyes:

---

[System Notification]

Access to information granted.

The timeline you've entered is hidden from external observers.

Status: Protective barrier active.

Warning: This measure is temporary.

---

Nyx froze as he read the message.

"Hidden?.. That means… I'm truly outside the usual rules," he whispered. "And for now, they can't see me. For now..."

He exhaled slowly, feeling the cold-blooded effect stabilize his breathing.

"Then I have to use this time. Grow. Get stronger."

---

System Notification:

Congratulations, you have identified the world you're in!

You are now in the Marvel Universe.

Reward:

150 experience points

3 attribute points (to allocate)

Beginner's Gift (A unique item to aid your first steps. Unlocks upon activation.)

---

As the notification faded, another message popped up in his mind:

---

System:

"Would you like to open the Beginner's Gift?"

Nyx thought for a moment, then decided not to waste time. He confirmed his choice by mentally pressing the "accept" button.

---

System Notification:

Congratulations, you've opened the Beginner's Gift!

Rewards:

Passive Skill: Danger Sense (Increases perception of threats, allows sensing hidden danger)

Predecessor's Memories (Unlocks partial memories of the previous owner of the body, including knowledge and experience)

Inventory: 12 item slots

---

Nyx carefully reread the list of rewards. His lips twitched slightly—either in surprise or contemplation.

"Experience. Attribute points. A beginner's gift…" His eyes scanned the message again.

Three things stood out immediately:

"Danger Sense"

— That sounds incredibly useful.

He closed his eyes, trying to feel a difference. Everything seemed the same… but when he focused, something stirred in the back of his mind. A vague, primal sense of threat. As if he could now detect not just the obvious, but what lurked in the shadows.

If someone tries to attack me, will I know in advance?

The thought brought a strange mix of relief… and caution.

"Predecessor's Memories"

Nyx clenched his fists. This was a real mystery.

Who was his predecessor?

If the system gave these memories , then the body he'd taken must have once belonged to someone else.

Nyx took a deep breath and looked at the final notification:

---

[Inventory: 12 Item Slots]

"Inventory?" He squinted. "Is it physical… or digital?"

He tried to mentally summon the interface, and a translucent menu appeared before him:

---

[INVENTORY]

Slots: 12/12 (empty)

Functions: Storage / Quick Access

Restrictions: Cannot store living beings

---

Nyx reached toward the nearest object—a phone. As he focused, the phone shimmered and vanished… appearing in the first inventory slot.

"Oh… that's useful."

That meant he could store items weightlessly and safely. With weapons, supplies, or money stored there, it would be the perfect survival tool in the Marvel universe.

Once Nyx distributed the rewards, another notification appeared:

---

[Congratulations! Level 2 Reached]

Description: Of the previous body owner's memory. May contain knowledge, combat techniques, world information, or personal experiences. Accessible through special interaction with the system.

Choose Active Skill:

1. Scan (Analyze objects and beings, reveal stats)

2. Stealth (Reduces chance of detection)

3. Regeneration I (Faster HP and stamina recovery)

Nyx crossed his arms, staring at the three skill options.

1. Scan — The ability to learn the stats and traits of beings and items.

2. Stealth — A chance to avoid unnecessary encounters and survive in a world full of danger.

3. Regeneration I — Faster healing after wounds, quicker stamina recovery.

Which to choose?

"Regeneration I is good, but it won't save me from Thanos's punch or Thor's lightning. Unless it reaches Wolverine or Deadpool's level. And Marvel probably has better healing tech or potions anyway."

"Stealth is useful… but would it really save me? In this world, some can see through walls and darkness. If the Ancient One or S.H.I.E.L.D. notices me, stealth won't help."

"Scan… information is power. Knowing who and what you're facing could decide any encounter. Learning enemies' weaknesses, gauging danger levels..."

He clenched his fist.

"Scan."

---

[Active Skill Selected: Scan]

Nyx looked around and focused on an old wooden chair.

[Scanning…]

---

"Hm… it works."

Next — a living being. Nyx spotted a spider in the corner and activated the skill.

---

[Scanning…]

HP: 2/2

Threat Level: Minimal

---

Just as Nyx was beginning to appreciate the usefulness of his new skill, another system notification flashed before his eyes.

---

[System Notification]

Would you like to activate "Predecessor's Memories"?

Warning: May cause severe headaches or loss of consciousness.

Nyx paused, reading the warning. Severe pain or blacking out wasn't a joke—it was a serious mental trial.

But… what if these memories really helped?

He felt his nerves tighten, but his decision was already made.

"Activate."

---

[System Notification]

Activating...

Memory download (10%... 42%... 78%... 100%)

Activation complete.

---

But instead of adjusting to the flow of information, his mind began to crack under the pressure—the pain was unbearable. Millions of shards, like needles piercing every part of his brain, tore into his mind. Foreign knowledge, emotions, and experiences suddenly became his own.

His vision blurred, the world spun. His body gave out and collapsed to the floor.

In that moment, everything went black.
