Chapter 2 - Chapter 1 'Beginnings'

Beginnings

---

When I opened the door, the atmosphere shifted.

The loud buzz of conversation, laughter, and the occasional crash of a chair filled the massive hall. Warm light spilled from hanging lanterns, casting a golden hue over a room that felt alive. It was loud. It was chaotic.

It was Fairy Tail.

I stood at the entrance for a second, my eyes scanning everything—rowdy wizards drinking, sparring, arm-wrestling on broken tables, sleeping midair, or arguing over who owed who jewel.

But the moment I stepped inside, everything stilled.

Eyes turned.

They scanned me—not with suspicion, but with sharpness. I could feel it. The guild members, experienced and intuitive, sensed something different. Maybe it was the magic I was trying to keep in check. Maybe it was the sword on my back.

But just as quickly, they went back to their business.

I walked toward the bar slowly. My boots echoed softly on the wooden floor.

Behind the bar stood a woman with tied-back black hair, wiping a glass casually. Her presence was calm.

"Hey there," she said as I approached. "You lost, kid?"

I shook my head and took a seat on the wooden stool. "I want to join the guild."

She raised an eyebrow, then smiled. "Alright. You're a bit young, though. How old are you?"

"Twelve."

She gave me a look that was half amused, half curious. "That's younger than usual, but not unheard of. Do you know how to use magic?"

Before she could ask more, I raised my palm and let it flare. A dark reddish-black energy flickered to life above my hand—silent, heavy, and simmering with destructive power. The wood under my hand creaked slightly.

I pulled it back before it could do more damage.

"I call it... Power of Destruction."

The bartender whistled under her breath. "Well damn. You really are serious. That's some ominous magic right there."

"I'm aware."

"You've got control too. Most kids your age wouldn't even be able to keep it from leaking."

"I had to learn fast," I replied. "I've been training since I was ten."

She gave a thoughtful nod, then turned toward the back of the hall. "You'll have to talk to the Master. He'll want to meet you before you're officially in."

Before she could call anyone, I continued, "My mother told me to come here before she passed. She said… I'd find my father here."

That made her pause. "Your father?"

"Yes. His name is Gildarts Clive."

The glass in her hand slipped slightly but didn't fall. Her face froze in surprise. "Wait—what?"

I nodded.

She dropped the glass this time.

A moment later—

"WHAT DID YOU SAY!?" she shouted loud enough to make a few mugs shatter on nearby tables.

The entire guild turned toward the bar. Dozens of voices shouted in chaotic unison:

"Gildarts has a son!?"

"Is this some prank!?"

"He's got the hair! The eyes!"

"I thought that sword looked familiar!"

"No wonder his magic feels like a punch in the gut!"

I sighed and rested my chin on my hand. Yup. This was going to happen.

Footsteps echoed above as a small figure walked down the stairs from the second floor. He moved slowly, calmly, but with an overwhelming aura of authority. The air shifted.

Of course, it was the Master.

He looked at me for a few seconds, his expression unreadable, then floated down and landed beside the bar.

"So… you say your name is?"

"Shanks. Shanks Clive."

He studied me for another moment. "You're definitely his kid. Same sharp gaze. Same 'I'm about to blow something up' vibe."

"Hopefully with a little more restraint," I muttered.

He chuckled. "You can join the guild. I'll talk to you more in my office later. For now—"

He turned to the crowd, arms wide.

"WE'VE GOT A NEW FAMILY MEMBER! PARTY TIME!"

"YEAHHHHHH!"

Music started. Tables were flipped. Drinks flew. Somehow, someone was already roasting meat in the corner.

The bartender leaned forward. "Where do you want your guild mark?"

I pulled down the collar of my hoodie slightly and pointed to my right shoulder.

"Right here."

She nodded and pressed the seal. A warm red glow spread as the Fairy Tail mark etched itself onto my skin.

And just like that—I wasn't just a reincarnated kid anymore.

I was a Fairy Tail wizard and I heard the notification.
