Chapter nine: Understanding Eachother
The days that followed were filled with small, subtle moments that brought Nina and Damien closer. They didn't have good revelation or life-changing epiphanies, but there was a slow-building sense of trust between them. Their conversations were more open, their interactions less guarded.
One day, the group gathered at the university to prepare their final presentation. The project was almost complete, and it was time to put everything they worked on into action. As they rehearsed their lines and fine-tuned their slides, Nina noticed that Damien seemed different-more relaxed, less tensed.
"Okay, Damien, you're up," Sophie said, clapping him on the back.
Damien nodded, standing up to take his place at the front. He glanced at Nina before starting and for the first time, his usual usual confidence was tempered with something else-something real.
He spoke with sincerity, with purpose. as he presented their research, the group couldn't help but notice how much the his tone had shifted. He wasn't trying to impress anyone anymore. He was speaking from heart.
Nina couldn't help but smile as she watched him. In that moment, she realized how far they had come-how much they had being changed in such a short time.
