An Unexpected Encounter
As Alex and Sophia continued to discuss Rachel's behavior, they decided to take a break and grab some coffee. They walked to a nearby café, enjoying the warm sunshine and fresh air.
As they sat down at a small table, Alex noticed a familiar face across the room. It was Mike, his best friend from college. They had lost touch over the years, but Alex was happy to see him again.
Mike caught Alex's eye and smiled, getting up from his seat to come over. "Alex, it's great to see you!" he exclaimed, shaking Alex's hand.
Alex stood up, grinning. "Mike, it's been ages! What brings you here?"
Mike sat down in the empty chair at their table. "I'm just visiting some friends from college. We were thinking of having a reunion, but it's been tough to coordinate everyone's schedules."
Sophia smiled, introducing herself. "I'm Sophia, Alex's girlfriend. It's nice to meet you, Mike."
Mike nodded, taking a sip of his coffee. "Nice to meet you too, Sophia. So, what's new with you two?"
As they chatted, Alex filled Mike in on their recent adventures with Rachel. Mike listened intently, his expression growing more serious.
"I had no idea Rachel was behaving like that," Mike said. "I'm not surprised, though. She's always been a bit intense."
Alex nodded. "Yeah, we've been trying to figure out what's going on with her. But it's not just that. We're also dealing with some other stuff."
Mike leaned forward, his eyes locked on Alex's. "What kind of stuff?"
Alex hesitated, unsure of how much to share. But something about Mike's concerned expression put him at ease.
"We're just trying to navigate some complicated relationships," Alex said. "It's been a challenge, but we're working through it."
Mike nodded thoughtfully. "I'm here for you, Alex. If you need any advice or just someone to talk to, I'm here."
As they continued to chat, Alex felt a sense of gratitude towards Mike. It was good to have someone to talk to, someone who understood him.
The conversation flowed easily, and before long, they had been talking for hours. As the sun began to set, Mike stood up, saying he had to go.
"It was great catching up with you, Alex," Mike said. "Let's do it again soon."
Alex smiled, feeling a sense of connection with his old friend. "Definitely, Mike. Take care."
As Mike walked away, Sophia turned to Alex and smiled. "That was nice. It's good to see you reconnecting with old friends."
Alex nodded, feeling a sense of happiness. "Yeah, it's been too long. I'm glad we ran into him."
