Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: Intimacy

Rose sneered as she looked at Marissa's face which was deathly pale.

"You think I would be your friend just because of a ring?" Rose scoffed, mockery evident all over her face.

"Here, I don't want this ring anymore," she pulled the ring away from her finger, throwing the ring at Marissa's feet.

Alpha Kain couldn't stand it anymore, and he signalled for the guards to take her away. The guards did as they were told.

"You will regret this, I promise you, Alpha, protect your daughter," Rose screamed as they dragged her away till peace was restored immediately.

Alpha Kain frowned, mind-linking one of the guards, 'ensure she is tightly locked in the deepest parts of the dungeon, I don't want her harming my daughter, or any of the Pack members.'

"Are you okay?" Bryce asked her, and she shook her head negatively.

"I never expected that she would do such a thing, she has shattered my worldview," Bethany was still in shock over the development of the entire situation.

"It's fine, let's forget about her, I am tired," Marissa spoke while exhaling.

She was still reeling from the betrayal, and she just wanted to rest.

Bryce looked at Marissa whose face was filled with exhaustion, and he sighed.

He turned to look at Alpha Kain who shook his head, having known what Bryce wanted to talk about.

"How about you spend the night with us, we will have the discussion tomorrow," Alpha Kain suggested, and they all agreed, finding the idea to be feasible.

"I can't believe she would do such a thing? I always considered her to be more than a friend, but my sister," Bethany complained with folded arms.

"It is fine, not everybody is bound to have good hearts," Marissa chuckled wryly as she pulled off her jewellery.

They were currently in Marissa's room, recalling the events which had taken place today.

"Aren't you angry?" Bethany asked with pouted lips.

"Angry? Maybe not, but I am disappointed, I treated her like the little sister I never had," Marissa replied, wiping the lipstick from her lips.

"Let's forget about her, let's talk about you, were you able to find your mate?" Marissa conveniently changed the topic as she didn't want to think too much of the earlier incident.

Bethany lowered her head sadly, and Marissa understood what her actions meant.

"You don't need to worry, I believe you will find your mate soon," Marissa approached her while patting her back.

Bethany gave her a smile in reply.

"What do you plan to do?" Bethany asked, shifting the attention away from her.

"What do you mean by that?" Marissa asked, feeling confused.

"I mean with Alpha Bryce, everyone knows that he is your mate, and it seems your dad isn't pleased with it, will you reject him?" Bethany asked with a concerned face.

Marissa didn't give a reply immediately as she thought about Bethany's words.

After a few seconds of silence, and slight hesitation, Marissa answered, "since the Moon Goddess has given him to be my mate, then I have no choice than to accept him, I won't reject him, and he isn't planning on doing the same as well."

Bethany had a bright smile on her face on hearing Marissa's words.

"I knew you would make the right decision, I am so excited," Bethany clapped her hands with excitement.

"But that means you will be leaving me here, who do I discuss with?" Bethany's mood dropped just as fast as she was happy.

Marissa thought about it. Since she would be leaving for Bryce's pack, she would be all alone as she doesn't know anyone there.

Maybe, it would be better to take Bethany alone. That way, both of them wouldn't be lonely.

"Would you like to go with me? Who knows, you might find your mate there," Marissa suggested, and Bethany let out an excited squeal.

"But will your dad agree?" Bethany asked after all the excitement had dampened.

"I believe he would, so you do not need to worry," Marissa was confident that her Father would accept for Bethany to accompany her to the Blood Moon Pack.

"Alright then, I would go pack my bags, it's better if I am prepared, good night Ris," Bethany waved Marissa good night, before skipping out of her room causing the latter to shake her head with a doting smile on her face.

Now alone, Marissa finally realized that the earlier incidents were real.

Her childhood friend had betrayed her, and also tried to kill her. She also trashed the 20-year old friendship.

Marissa wiped the lone tear which was about to fall from her eyes.

"What is making you cry?" Marissa suddenly heard this question.

She immediately looked around, wondering who had the audacity to be in her room, especially this late at night.

"Who is there?" She asked, standing up to her feet as she looked around her room.

Marissa let out a yelp when someone suddenly landed in front of her. Out of instinct, she slapped the person's face without seeing who it was.

Relax little one, it is just me, why are you so violent?" It turns out that it was Bryce who had made his way into her room.

Marissa had a stunned look on her face as she stared at him. She was also speechless.

Placing her hands on her waist, she asked, "why are you here? Wait, did you mask your scent? I should have smelt you, so why couldn't I sense you?"

Bryce had a grin on his face while watching Marissa who surprisingly became talkative in his presence.

"Well, you can say that I masked my scent, but that isn't the case, I am a stronger werewolf than you, and since we haven't completed our mate bond, it will be hard for you to be able to sense me," Bryce explained to her, and she let out an 'oh!'

"So why are you here?" Marissa asked with a fold of her arms.

"My dad would be angry if he finds you here," Marissa reminded, hoping he would leave.

She hated to admit it, but his presence affected her a lot.

"Are you sending me away, little one?" Bryce asked with a teasing tone.

"I am not, I am just worried that my father will catch you here, you need to understand what that means if it happens," Marissa replied to him, hoping he would take the hint and leave

But Bryce was not in the mood to leave her. Instead, he walked closer to her until her back hit the wall.

Her breath caught in her throat. The heat from his body was overwhelming, his scent was manly, and electric—wrapped around her like a spell. Marissa swallowed heavily as she watched him lean in.

Unfortunately, what Marissa prayed against happened. Marissa's head snapped to the door when she heard its creaking sound, and her heart dropped instantly.
