Chapter 4 – The System Has Arrived
"This is your room. Make yourself at home. Oh, by the way, we've got another transfer student arriving today."
"Got it."
Tatsuro glanced around the clean and spacious room, a genuine smile creeping onto his face. After all, he'd earned this spot with his own strength. It felt good—no way to deny it.
"Let's go. I'll take you to meet the other transfer student. This year's first-years are pretty numerous. Including you, there'll be five!"
"Five is… a lot?"
Tatsuro was a bit stunned. The main cast only had three in the original, so technically five was nearly double. But it still felt like such a small number. Just how rare were jujutsu sorcerers…?
Japan had three major clans and only two jujutsu schools, and yet there were barely any sorcerers. Ridiculous.
Gojo pulled a card from his pocket and handed it over. "Here's your student ID. Make sure to hold on to it."
"Thanks."
Tatsuro pocketed the ID, glanced once more at the tidy room, then followed Gojo out.
Homes always brought a strange sense of comfort—especially when your "housemate" was Gojo Satoru. It felt ridiculously secure. Even if the world ended, Gojo would still be around.
And then there was Yuta Okkotsu—a top-tier ally. With two strong backs to lean on, if he still couldn't survive, then what was the point of transmigrating?
But… what exactly was his technique?
The power to slow down the world around him? That seemed too niche.
Or was it…?
His thoughts were suddenly cut off by a cold, mechanical voice ringing in his mind:
"Ultimate Ninjutsu System initializing. Binding to host."
The sudden announcement nearly made Tatsuro trip mid-step. But once the word system registered, excitement exploded in his chest.
Of course! What transmigrator didn't get a system?! And his was a Naruto-style ninjutsu system?
"System bound successfully. Attribute panel unlocking. Please review."
A blue screen appeared in front of him, listing his stats:
> Host: Tatsuro
Cursed Energy: 400 (Grade 3 Sorcerer)
Stamina: 7
Eye Technique: One-Tomoe Sharingan
Ninjutsu: None
Taijutsu: None
So this was his personal interface?
Tatsuro raised an eyebrow, eyes locked on the "One-Tomoe Sharingan" entry. It stood out like a gem on an otherwise blank page.
Using ninjutsu in Jujutsu Kaisen?
Actually… not a bad idea. I mean, Susanoo is crazy cool.
What's this in the upper right corner?
There was a "+" and "–" icon on the screen. Curious, Tatsuro tapped the plus sign.
Click.
The panel instantly changed, revealing a list of basic ninjutsu:
> Substitution Jutsu: 50 Points – Instantly swaps your position with a wooden dummy when attacked. Releases white smoke to confuse the enemy. Costs 30 cursed energy.
Clone Jutsu: 50 Points – Creates an illusionary clone. Lasts 10 minutes. Costs 40 cursed energy.
Transformation Jutsu: 50 Points – Transforms the user into someone or something else. Lasts 20 minutes. Costs 40 cursed energy.
The Three Basic Jutsu, huh…
Wait. What the hell is with these prices?
What's my current balance…?
…Zero?
No starter pack?
Tatsuro nearly facepalmed. Not even a free jutsu? This system was stingy as hell.
Let's see how much the classic fire-style costs…
> Fire Style: Great Fireball Jutsu – 150 Points. Costs 100 cursed energy.
Fire Style: Phoenix Fire...
He didn't even finish reading.
Tatsuro closed the screen in frustration. If he had a cigarette, he'd be sighing like a broke salaryman.
So damn expensive!
And how was he supposed to earn points? By exorcising curses?
Forget it—for now. He'd dig into the system later tonight. Right now, he needed to meet Yuta Okkotsu. Best to build rapport with a special-grade sorcerer ASAP.
---
Outside a wooden cabin, Tatsuro stood under the blazing sun, waiting for Gojo and Yuta. To be honest, he was buzzing with anticipation for the future.
Sure, the jutsu were pricey, but at least there was a path forward.
Imagine breathing fire from your mouth or throwing a Rasengan barehanded. How cool would that be?
Click.
The door creaked open. A black-haired boy emerged behind Gojo. He looked gloomy, with heavy dark circles under his eyes—like he hadn't slept in days… or didn't dare to.
The aura around him was intense. A black curse spirit lurked close, snarling and shrieking in a ghostly rasp. Tatsuro instinctively stepped back.
Terrifying.
That was his first impression. He knew Yuta Okkotsu was powerful. He had mentally prepared himself. But standing near him, the pressure was overwhelming.
Yuta also noticed the black-haired boy nearby. He knew this must be the other transfer student Gojo had mentioned.
He extended his right hand.
"Hi, I'm Yuta Okkotsu. Nice to meet you."
"Ah, y-yeah…"
Tatsuro reached out, suppressing his fear, and forced a friendly smile. "I'm Tatsuro. Nice to meet you too."
"Alright, alright!"
Gojo suddenly wrapped his arms around both of them, beaming. "Now that you've met, let's go meet the other three classmates!"
---
In the classroom.
Gojo stood at the front of the room, full of energy. "Alright! Time to introduce our transfer students!"
"Come on, everyone! Perk up!"
…Crickets.
The three students below didn't even look at him, each lounging indifferently in their seats.
"C'mon, show some enthusiasm!"
Before he could say more, Maki Zenin—who had picked up Tatsuro that morning—chimed in.
"If it's the guy I picked up this morning, sure, he's welcome. But the other one? I heard he's a pain. Who wants to welcome someone like that?"
"Salmon."
A white-haired boy with a scarf covering his mouth spoke in agreement.
And then, sitting silently in the corner, was a large, gentle-looking panda.
Gojo sighed, realizing he wouldn't get anywhere with this group. "Alright, fine. Come on in!"
Outside the classroom, Tatsuro gave Yuta a reassuring pat. The boy looked frozen, clearly nervous about being rejected.
"You'll never make friends if you're scared. Take that first step."
"Thank you…"
Yuta inhaled deeply and prepared to enter.
Not bad, Tatsuro thought. Shouldn't take long to max out his favorability. Then I'll have this special-grade completely in my pocket.
With that, he pushed open the door and walked in.
The first thing he saw was a giant panda. Despite its imposing size and claws on the desk, Tatsuro knew this one would be the easiest to befriend.
Next was Maki Zenin, who'd picked him up earlier.
And the boy with the scarf—that was Toge Inumaki, the cursed speech user.
