At last, he rushed home, and as soon as he opened the door, Benjamin dashed in to search. Seeing Mallia all curled up alone on the small bed, he realized she was simply asleep. Indeed, when Benjamin saw that Mallia was asleep and therefore hadn't answered his calls, his heart completely settled.
He just didn't know when Mallia would wake up. Right now, Benjamin wanted to stay at the police station, but he didn't know how to explain that to Mallia.
If he had to wait for Mallia to wake up, Benjamin didn't know how long he'd have to wait, so he thought better of it.
So, Benjamin began looking for a sticky note, wanting to write down that he'd gone to the police station and leave it somewhere conspicuous, where Mallia could see it upon waking.
