People who had just experienced danger often had nightmares once they fell asleep, and Dylan Young worried that Scarlett Glenn would not rest peacefully.
Scarlett Glenn nodded and closed her eyes, feeling much more at ease with Dylan there.
Dylan pulled the quilt up, covering Scarlett Glenn up to her chin.
Perhaps she was too exhausted, for Scarlett Glenn quickly felt drowsiness creep over her after lying down. In a groggy state, she asked, "Uncle, when I wake up, you'll still be here, won't you?"
Dylan said nothing, looking at Scarlett Glenn's pale, thin face with the same affection as one might look at their own daughter. He couldn't answer her question.
He shouldn't have been there in the first place. He should have left immediately after ensuring her safety.
If he stayed, he would only bring endless troubles, both for her and for himself.
Yet, seeing her, he found himself reluctant to leave.
