Matilda Jenkins and Nathaniel York had been waiting at the entrance, neither of them had the heart to rest, consumed by anxiety. When they saw the car door open, Scarlett Glenn popped her head out. Matilda screamed and was about to rush over but Nathaniel pulled her back from behind.
"She's injured, don't be so reckless."
Only then did Matilda see the wound on Scarlett Glenn's neck and hurriedly asked, "Sis, you're hurt, is it serious?"
"It's not serious, just a little skin trauma. I've worried you both."
Matilda had been holding back her tears, but as soon as Scarlett Glenn spoke, she couldn't hold back any longer and started crying, "It's all our fault, we didn't protect you well enough..."
Scarlett Glenn wanted to smile, but her face was in so much pain that even speaking hurt. She said, "It's not your fault. Let's head back, where's Thomas?"
