No one likes betrayal, and even less so being betrayed.
That kind of bone-chilling coldness and the despair of feeling crushed and stripped by the entire world are hard to understand for those who've never truly experienced them. Only after being thoroughly betrayed and hurt, do people understand that the relationships they've built—kinship, friendship, love, faith, adoration—are incredibly fragile in the face of absolute power.
Perhaps it is not all illusion. People do find bonds that can withstand trials, and not everyone in the world is a traitor. But even the most insignificant betrayal leaves a mark deep in one's heart. If someone has put their trust in everyone and the entire world, only to be betrayed by everything they believed in, even to the point of facing them sword in hand, then it shouldn't be surprising if that person breaks down completely, cursing the world and humanity while embracing despair and madness until they die.
