Throughout the long history of all races, the acts of conquest and being conquered, rebellion and suppression, were constantly on stage. There were also instances of "If you can't beat them, join them." Although it was embarrassing, in an era where national extinction was as common as dinner, survival of the ethnic group was more important than dignity. Had the various races not understood this, they would have been wiped out in those bloody feuds.
