Dimensional Warper
Chapter 120
"You want me to hire you? But you are already so strong?!" Aleron said as the two made their way through the forest. From his perspective, he couldn't fathom as to why Orsen would even make this choice. "Look, Aleron. I just don't have that much of a great background like you so I need a job from you to sustain myself."
Orsen said as they got further and further away from the castle. He came to know that the castle that he was in was an abandoned ruin, there was such structures littered all over the world. Some would have treasures to loot while others would be full of traps but this one was empty but it was good for setting up a hideout.
As for how Aleron and Stellar met, the two coincidentally met by accident in the forest and had formed an alliance. Aleron wanted to get stronger while Stellar needed prey thus an agreement was easily reached. Stellar would harvest bodies brought to her by Aleron and feast off of them while Aleron would get information, loot or other valuables that was accessible to the outside world.
He knew what he was doing was wrong but a few chips had to be sacrificed. After all, he knew that to get stronger, sacrifices had to be made and in his case, he would sacrifice others instead. There wasn't a tinge of regret with what he did, provided he got stronger, he didn't care.
However as for Orsen, he didn't lure him here but found him already in Stellar's hands to begin with. He knew he had lost a valuable asset such as Stellar but he gained an even better piece for his plan.
"As for contact, here." Aleron gave Orsen a strange looking stone. It had a bizarre glow of red mixed with blue giving off a pleasant purple color. "All you have to do is place it in your palm and input your thoughts into it and I having the other piece should be able to receive it."
"A communication talisman." Orsen speculated the item as he put it in his inventory however for Aleron, the stone simply vanished from his hand. 'What kind of skills do you have?' He thought, now even more curious to decipher all of Orsen's skills. "Just don't do things that will get you killed." Orsen said as the Aurorise Kingdom came into view.
It was a warning for Aleron and he felt the killing intent in Orsen's voice. "Here, consider this a gift for our new partnership." Aleron said as he handed over a bag over to Orsen so as to soften the atmosphere. "We'll talk later on." He said as he made a detour and not far from where he went, a carriage was parked before stepping in. It was well concealed thus not attracting any form of attention.
Orsen saw the carriage make its way through the Kingdom gates without any form of restrictions but first…
He looked at the bag that was handed over to him. Inside was up to fifty silver quartz. He took one out as he inspected it. It had a coin shape with a hole in the middle of it. It was soft and gleamed dully with a sterile smell emanated off from it. It was clear that it was meant to be carried by a piece of thread however such a large amount couldn't be done in such a manner. A notification appeared in front of him.
[{Copper quartz= 1 unit}]
[{Bronze quartz = 10 units}]
[{Silver quartz = 100 units}]
[{Gold quartz = 1,000 units}]
[{Platinum quartz = 10,000 units}]
For a person in the middle lower social status, this could be considered a small fortune however for a noble, this was merely pocket change. Regardless, he put that bag as well in his inventory, a black void he made for storing items that he couldn't keep on himself. Putting that aside, he made his way to the Aurorise kingdom.
As expected, the security was present and demanded him to show his identity. 'This idiot snuck out of the castle thus he didn't grab an identity card.' He sighed at this revelation. He could bribe them but he wasn't in the giving mood for that.
"Fuck it." He cursed as he looked at the two who prevented his entry. Both of them were in the second tier, one of them on the second array while the other was in the first array. Orsen made sure that it was just the two of them before making his move.
They were adorned in iron armor but that didn't hinder their movement as with some bolstering from mana, they could increase their agility with ease which required little mana to sustain. He immediately lunged at the short one, reaching for his sword before knocking him out cold. The taller one immediately charged at Orsen only to have his right hand chopped off. "AARGHHH!"
As he screamed in agony, he was surprised as Orsen was displaying a feat that couldn't be enacted by someone at his level. However Orsen wasn't in the mood for sparing them so with the taller one already absorbed at his bleeding hand, he chopped his head clean as his body fell to the ground with a large thud.
He then proceeded to decapitate the other in a similar fashion. After that, he cleansed his body, ridding it of any blood that had splattered onto him just like earlier with Stellar's confrontation as his own shadow covered his figure once it was off, he was spotless.
He knew that this would attract attention later on but that could be substituted as the rampant rising of demons in the land as of late. They had been going rampant at an astonishing rate, numerous pilgrimages had been launched by the church so as to curb this pandemic but the overall result was nowhere near satisfactory.
As if anything, the cases of demon attacks only got worse and worse with time. And that was one of the troubles that they had to deal with. Other than demons, the sudden rise of tainted monsters came about. Creatures in this world also had tiers just like humans however they didn't have arrays like humans and other intellectual creatures.
They were limited to only tiers but that didn't mean that they advanced quicker than other creatures. Sure they didn't have to worry about the array levels but due to their lack of intelligence, it took them longer to advance. However there were times when a demon could taint a creature with their black hearts either when they were infected or these creatures feasted on the corpses of demons.
They would gain almost half of the demon they had consumed along with them having black hearts. Thus such creatures could rank up much easier and there were instances where the consciousness of the demon would be transferred into the creature only if the creature was of a high tier.
He made his way into the kingdom. Rows of houses were lined up perfectly with the farther away he saw, the better they got. 'Just like last time.' He thought as he made his way towards his house. He could see the children toying with mana while others were amazed at the sight.
He ignored all of that and made his way towards his house. It was rather common and easy to miss as it blended easily into the background with the rest of the houses surrounding it. Bland brown tiled roofing, grey walls and equivalent to a regular house, just like his back on Earth.
The door was a regular brown, just like the rest in the block. As he made his way in, he was greeted by sheer silence and stillness. 'She is probably out hunting.' Orsen thought as he made his way towards the kitchen before sprucing something up to satiate his hunger.
After he was done, he washed the dishes and went to his place of work. He was self-employed so he didn't have to deal with the qualms of getting yelled at by his superior. He looked at the little shop which was nothing short of a joke. It was in a pathetic and sorry state. Its walls were dilapidated, the paint on the walls had started to come off while the door was barely holding onto its hinges, ready to come out.
He went inside only to be greeted by a ransacked store. He had been a craftsman thus his specialty in trade was in making sculptures of the ones his customers would request but since he was overshadowed by the competitors around him, business was slow and he would usually earn up to twenty copper quartz.
The highest he had ever earned was thirty copper quartz but even so, it wasn't all that great as it could be spent on the bare necessities. He wasn't planning going back to this job and not a moment sooner as he was inspecting the state of his workshop than someone walked in.
Looking at the figure, Orsen knew him as the one who wanted him ran off the block. The person in front of him had tried numerous times to buy off his store but he never yielded and remain astute. The man was in his late forties, had a sniggering smile stretched across his face. His clothes were lavish, a clear indication of his status in society. He had a horse face, brown hair and a look of contempt lingering within his eyes.
"Look at this mess." He started off. Orsen simply observed the man as he looked around. Piercing into his thoughts, he instantly knew that he was the one who had orchestrated it. He wanted to worsen the condition of his store so as to get it off his hands at a price. It would have naturally looked like the better option to do so than keep on running it.
"It is such a terrible thing that this has happened but worry not, I'll lend a helping hand." He said as his eyes tried to gauge Orsen's facial expression. To his surprise, the look of distraught and hopelessness wasn't there but rather a look of calmness. "It wouldn't be anything associating to the store now would it, Kairos?" Orsen asked as he looked at the man standing in front of him.
"You know that in life, sacrifices have to be made, right? How about I buy this store off your hands at one silver quartz. I'm sure that such an amount should be able to convince you on letting go of such a mess." Kairos said as a small smile crept up his face. He knew that Orsen didn't have the money to renovate the store thanks to his background.
The only reason as to why he hadn't forcefully snatched this store from his hands was because of Orsen's father who had an equal status to his. Thus he couldn't act rashly and bide his time. He didn't have the immunity of a noble as he was a merchant who had been able to amount a fortune but compared to the higher ups of society, it was nothing.
"I appreciate the kind gesture but sadly I'll pass Kairos." Orsen said as he brought out a small smile. "What!" Kairos exclaimed in shock. "But you barely have the money to fix this store, it would be better if you took the money that I'm offering you and try to invest in something else." However Orsen's face showed no form of expression.
"I've made my decision Kairos, now I would urge you to leave or if not, I'll kick you out myself." Orsen said as he signaled towards the exit. Kairos was visibly furious. He hadn't anticipated Orsen to reject his offer but he thought that he was simply naïve and stupid. However Orsen's choice of words made him perceive as if it was a threat.
"And what if I choose to stay. You're merely a tier one against me, a tier two. Do you think that you have a chance of winning? Humph!"
