The ranks of the adventurers guild was split into different ranks. A simple notification appeared Infront of Orsen recollecting this information.
[{Deep Iron rank}]
[{Carmot rank}]
[{Aredrite rank}]
[{Orichalcum rank}]
[{Mithril rank}]
[{Adamantine rank}]
He inspected the dark bluish emblem in his hand. It had the sigil of the kingdom, a demon which was on the ground, being slain by a handsome man. The image spoke of mystery and enigma.
This was Deep Iron rank. Any new adventurers would be gifted this badge and the more effort they put it the guild, the more merit points they would accumulate and thus raise their ranks in the guild.
'A mechanism to make others work for the kingdom.' Orsen thought as he looked at Reya. Her badge was a Aredrite rank which had a strange green glow to it.
She had received it due to her advancing in her tiers. From a tier two to a tier three. Thus one could increase in ranks without the merit points but that wasn't a certified method as one would be required to compete tasks for the guild and if not,the kingdom.
Sir Joseph was on the fifth tier and had the Mithril rank. As for Adamantine, another individual had it, though there was a slight problem with her behavior that made her disliked by a lot of people.
She was on the same tier as Sir Joseph but the two were on different arrays. Sir Joseph was on the third array while she was on the fourth array thus proving to be the strongest adventurer but she rarely put in any work for the guild.
"Congratulations on your advancements!" Orsen said as the two stood out of the guild. There was a board with numerous missions that were hung up for accomplishing, some involved hunting down some low class demons, while others composed of hunting for wild creatures.
Of course there were harder quests but those required higher ranks for one to do them or required higher rank status in the guild. So far the highest paying quest was about vanquishing the Dark Estrian Warlock.
A tier five demon on the fourth and one of the counts I the great Demon Queen who was surprisingly the weakest out of the seven if them.
Not because he was weaker than the rest meant that he himself was actually weak. As a matter of fact, Sir Joseph had once taken on this quest and the result,an impasse between the two with both parties incurring a lot of injuries thus they had to withdraw from the battle.
Sir Joseph gained a lot of attention from that and his popularity rose amongst the people. Orsen however picked some of the easier ones on the bulletin board. The easier ones included hunting tier one and tier two beasts.
He randomly picked a quest without looking and took it to the front desk to which he was issued a deadline to have it done by the end of the day. Reya had also taken a quest from the board.
"Why did you pick such an easy quest?" Reya asked softly.Orsen didn't give a response he made his way out if the guild and out into the outskirts of the kingdom.
For him,he wasn't all that engrossed on the quest. For him, it was to get a clear lay of the land. Sure he could cover this entire universe with his senses but a visual layout was better for his preference.
Walking through the kingdom gates where two new guards were assigned. Unlike the previous ones, these ones were armoured all over and seemed more serious at their work. They had a tier three ranking with potent weapons.
Showing his adventurers' badge, he was granted access on leaving the kingdom and now he could freely explore the terrain. Looking at his quest,he saw that he had to kill a tier one Earth Bear Brownhide.
Sensing some not far off,he quickly made his way towards the pack through the lushious green flora. The forest was densely packed with tall trees that were upto five meters high and able to make a perfect carpet with their leaves making it easier to traverse due to the lack of vegetation underneath.
It wasn't long before he ran into a pack of three. He had to get their hides as it was the most valuable part of their body along with their teeth and claws. The latter group could be used in alchemy or manufacturing potions as some ingredients would require biological samples.
They were the size of regular bears but much larger and more aggressive. Such creatures would usually live in packs thus hunting one down was a problem but for a tier two expert, it wouldn't be that much of a deal and in Orsen's case, regardless of their tier, they still wouldn't pose a threat.
Till now, he still didn't have a proper weapon and now it was then that he realized...
*Whoosh*
A dark eerie blade materialized into his hands. It was the same sword that he had received as a present from his past self. He still hadn't figured out how that made sense or how potent he himself was but he knew that he would figure it all out in a matter of time.
[{?!!';?*??#)/!#)"!}]
Even now he couldn't decipher it. Ever since playing as Luke, he had forgotten about this sword's existence. Well as a Horror, the use of such methods was perceived as crude. Why bother flailing your arms around when you can crush you opponent to death with a mere thought.
The bears which were peacefully enjoying their company sensed Orsen and immediately got up, clearly annoyed by his presence. The two males were trying to deduce the female bear and saw Orsen as a good demonstration to show off their prowess.
The first male jumped at Orsen however he managed to slide underneath it and plunge his sword through its underside cutting it in half. It's blood was absorbed by the blood sphere through tiny red threads.
And just like that, a tier one Earth Bear Brownhide met it's fate. The other bear was already close to Orsen, giving out a loud roar so as to destabilize him.
'A Earth Bear Brownhide roar can momentarily stun opponents in the second tier on the first array while completely freezing tier one prey.' He mused as he saw the bear trying to swat him with it's paw.
He ducked as he cut the bear's stomach horizontally before backing up from it. Guts and intestines started spewing from it as it gave off a loud cry of agony.
*ROAR!!!*
It barely moved as blood threads eminate d from it's stomach going into the sword. Provided any form of cut had been dealt to the opponent, the absorption trait of the sword would begin.
As for the soul, the sword would deem the target whether it was worthy for that or not and since these were wild bears, they didn't have the intellect thus deemed unworthy for their souls to be devoured.
From a small thin trail to multiple jetstreams of blood eminating from every single orifice of the bear including it's pores slicing the bear with it's own blood to bits, the bear met it's end as well. The female bear which had been observant of the fight decided to join in.
*Stab*
Before making it's first step, the sword appeared in it's heart sucking it's blood completely dry.
'The spatial sphere, the blood sphere and the soul sphere.' The three orbs the sword was able to balance so very delicately as they appeared respectfully from the hilt to the tip of it. They were the size of tennis balls only slightly smaller than that but despite their size, their prey was boundless.
With a thought,he harvested the parts he needed for the quest from the three bears and stuffing them into his spatial void along with his sword .Casting his sense, he could tell where Reya was on the world and she seemed to be doing just fine so he made his way back to the guild.
Cashing in his rewards, he received 20 bronze quartz.'The amount for a tier one hunt is unmotivating.' He thought as he walked out of the guild and made his way towards his shop. He had thought of closing up for the day and open up tomorrow but he was free and decided to waste the day away.
He walked in to see everything was just as he had left it. 'I have to make the vials I gave Reya as well.' He thought as numerous vials appeared on the shelves along with a mix fo the rest of his trade. He sat patiently waiting for customers and finally after a while, someone walked through his door.
He had been meditating to pass time and upon opening his eyes, Aleron stood in front of him. Aleron was taken aback by the design o the shop as he hadn't expected it to be so we'll polished. Even the stores that he went to couldn't match up to this.
His eyes rested on Orsen's figure who had one hand supporting his head in a lazy manner as he watched Aleron. Aleron was hit with a nauseous feeling and his head felt heavy for an instant before the feeling disappeared.
He could feel that he was in a Domain Rune Cast and to his utter horror, his mana wasn't working. The more he tried it,the more painful it was for him, feeling as if multiple rods were being crammed into his skull thus he stopped.
"May I interest you with anything? And if it's not about buying the product then keep it to yourself." Orsen asked flatly. Aleron had numerous questions already but he knew that he couldn't ask them at the moment.
He looked at the shelf before seeing multiple vials that stated that could increase one tier. All for different tiers with the higher the tier, the more expensive they got with the highest one being a vial of tier seven.
He was shocked to see a potion for a tier three to break through into tier four. He was intrigued but the price made him reconsider.
'50 gold quartz!! This is blatant robbery!' He thought as he looked at the price before looking at Orsen who calmly glanced back at him. "This price is way too high! Can you offer me a discount, after all we are all friends here."
He wanted to test whether the results of the product were true. "I'll lower it to 45 gold quartz." Orsen said with a playful smile on his lips. Aleron couldn't believe this. He was a noble and here he was, being treated like trash.
"Do you think that you can act as you please? We're in Aurorise kingdom and here, the game won't favor you like out in the wild. Here!" He said proudly as he threw 5 silver quartz at the desk shop as he picked up the vial.
Suddenly,Aleron's proud demeanor was replaced by a look of pain and agony. The vial that he had clutched fell to the ground as he felt his entire body being flayed piece by piece. He could feel his own soul being poked at, waiting to die with his life teetering at the edge.
The feeling was too much for him that he fell to the ground. He could hear footsteps approaching him which picked up the vial before returning it back onto the shelf. In an instant, the pain that he had felt earlier miraculously vanished and breathed in huge breaths if air.
His face was covered in sweat with his eyes locking into Orsen's. A chilling tingle running through his body as he gazed into those eyes before breaking contact. "If you're not buying anything or have anything important to say then you might as well leave." Orsen said as he crouched down to Aleron's level.
"And I appreciate you for dealing with Kairos' men." He finished as he went back to his desk. "Argh!...Haa!..." Aleron who was barely breathing finally said," I have... a job...for...you..."
