Chapter 3 - Chapter 03

I spent the last two days in a haze, wrestling with the idea of accepting my new reality as Remillia Lockhart. Every moment felt surreal, yet there was a nagging sensation that I might be trapped in this world for a while. Not forever, but long enough that the concept of being a "Hero," which seemed to be the highest aspiration in this narrative, began to take root in my thoughts.

'But why aim for heroism when I could be the richest person in the world instead?' Yet, I knew I needed to hold tight to this new persona until I could find a way back to my original life.

Three days ago had marked the graduation ceremony for both combatant and noncombatant classes. As a cadet in the combatant track, I was now faced with the requirement to attend a separate academy called "Glacial Sphere," where I would spend the next five years honing my skills before officially earning the title of "Hero."

Sadly, this Remillia is a cadet of combatant class. The officer in charge had made it crystal clear: miss the first day of this academy, and I'd face permanent expulsion, leaving me nowhere to turn. Reluctantly, I recognized that with no financial means to escape this situation, I had no choice but to brace myself for yet another educational experience.

I groaned. 'Great, just what I wanted—more years of school. How many times do I have to graduate?'

The frustration weighed heavily on me as morning rolled around again—Monday, bright and unwelcoming.

"Aargh!" With a groan, I cursed the harsh sound of my smartphone alarm, which shattered the early morning silence and ended my precious sleep. My eyelids felt like lead as I desperately groped for the snooze button, wishing just a few more minutes of rest.

Waking up early had always been a battle for me. No matter how many alarms I set or how many promises I made to myself the night before, my body consistently rebelled against the idea of rising before the sun.

As I laid in bed once more, wrapped in the warmth of my blankets, I battled against the relentless pull of my body clock. It whispered sweet nothings about staying just a few minutes longer, promising that the world would never mind me.

But not today. Today was special; I had to attend Glacial Sphere, and skipping it was not an option. With a resigned sigh, I swung my legs out of bed and sat up, rubbing the sleep from my eyes as I prepared to face the day ahead.

I glanced at my phone. 8:01 AM

"How frustrating," I muttered, stifling a yawn as I made my way into the bathroom.

Standing in front of the mirror, I took a moment to observe my new reflection. Remillia was undoubtedly beautiful, with striking features that caught the eye. High cheekbones framed a flawless porcelain complexion, and her lips curved into a subtle, enigmatic smile. Her gray eyes held a piercing gaze, sharp and cold as ice, complemented by long lashes. Midnight-black hair cascaded around her shoulders, further enhancing her allure.

'Why am I so pretty when I'm just an extra? Such a waste of beauty,' I thought with a sigh.

After a quick shower, I donned the uniform of the Glacial Sphere Academy, distributed to cadets during orientation. I packed the needed essentials I thought I would bring in staying at the academy.

The uniform was a rich shade of midnight blue, adorned with golden braiding and an ornate insignia. A crisp white shirt peeked out from beneath the jacket, while tailored trousers provided comfort for movement. A belt cinched at my waist, completing the outfit with a gleaming buckle emblazoned with the academy's emblem. And let's not forget the polished black knee-high boots that added a sense of authority and style.

As I opened the door, I paused to look back at the now-empty apartment. A wave of gratitude washed over me for having a place to call home, even if it felt strange in this unfamiliar world.

Taking a deep breath, I steadied myself before stepping out into the vast unknown. The air felt different, electric with possibility, and I couldn't help but feel a mix of excitement and trepidation. What lay ahead was uncertain, but perhaps there was more to Remillia Lockhart's story than I had first imagined.
