We had a terrible new assignment. However, I no longer had Windy and Roxie, and after Lex had another mate, I didn't know if Roxie would remain inside me or just leave. The unanswered mystery of where she got the forbidden magic from and no longer feeling her presence inside me made me uneasy.
Every day, I still called out to them—my wolves, hoping they were still there and hiding from the strangeness of the dimension. However, the results remained nil.
"Maybe it's because of the dimensional difference, Little Wolf. Everything is opposite, and it's a bit confusing. But I'm sure when we get back to Eastonville, they'll be back," Lex said, trying to comfort me when he found me sitting alone, looking out the window.
Alpha Chris made room for us, and Lex decided to keep me company last night.
