"Elisha! Get ready already ,we are going to get late!" Mother shouted from downstairs
"Coming!" I said brushing my hair and then ran downstairs even though i seriously don't want to.
"All ready?" Father aske
"Yeah~" i and my sister said.
IN THE CAR
"I don't understand why do we all have to go" i said in full frustration.
"Because your father's friend said all of us should be their for his son's birthday" Mother said, stating the obvious.
I mean I hate going out and now father is dragging me along. I can't understand, I mean, father doesn't like going to birthday parties, he either sends us there, goes there alone or doesn't go and in rare cases we all go, but why? it's his friend not his brother or something. Anyways we reached there in like 20 minutes, and I have to admit his friend is a big deal, because there were security gaurds at his son's birthday party? Seriously? Then again, he almost invited the whole city or something, the place was huge with so many people and now I hate this more than any wedding. This place has people more than that!
So as we entered the beautiful living room more like a ball room and father's friend chimed a bright smile at us, I didn't even know he existed. . We wished him and his wife with 'the' birthday boy nowhere to be seen. As I felt a gaze on me I looked up and saw a strange, yet familiar face staring at me from the balcony . He looked nonchalant, and ignored me, so did i . Where did I see him again? Oh! wait, I do remember we visited them on their wedding anniversary , I do know he exists now I remember these faces. I'm an idiot.
"Hello, uncle, aunty!", a boy around 19 or something, approached us with a smile(around my age).
"Oh! Sam you've grown so much! Happy birthday" Father said too cheerfully for me to digest.
So he's the star tonight?
"Hi! We meet again!" He said looking in my direction
"Hi" I said awkwardly.
Don't blame me! I'm social awkward y'know and I don't know him that we'll either.
"Hello Uncle, Aunty" the boy from earlier said calmly.
"Dominic! You too have grown too much" Father said .He's two years older from me or something .
"Maybe we should find someone for him" their father said glancing my way, jokingly. 'Excuse me?' I thought.
"Thankyou" He replied.
"Uncle!" Again a girl came, she looked younger than me.
"Ria! Oh you've grown too much!" Father said .
'You already said that' I thought.
"I know right? I feel so stressed thinking about the day i will have to get her married!~"
"Father says that too" i joked (half-heartedly, but thats true he does say that ). Then, when I turned around I saw- Ren looking my way. Is he here with his family? Was he invited too? And then my heart skipped a beat maybe out of fear or maybe anxiety. He looked speechless. Me too.
"Anyway now that you're here, let's cut the cake" Mr. James said.
We went there, he cut the cake, gave our gift, and clicked photos,
"Umm, can I take a photo separately with your daughter?" Sam asked,
" Yeah, of course" Mr. James( their father ) said before anyone of us could say anything.
And as always I gave in.
We clicked a photo, then I excused myself for getting fresh.
And then got lost. But I found my way and reached the restroom.
"You look beautiful today" someone said from my side as I exited the washroom.
"Ahh! That scared me! " I said almost having a heart attack. It was Sam
"Oops, sorry" He said,
"What are you doing here? Aren't you the birthday boy?"
"Yeah, so what this is my place" He said
" Well, whatever " I said , walking away
"Hey! You can't just leave" He said
"Why? These are my legs I'll do whatever I want" I said thinking I outsmarted him
Then he yanked me back and lifted me up , "See i stopped you" He said cheekily.
"Hey put me down!" I said, punching him.
"Fine" He said, then he let go off of me , and as I was leaving he again pulled me back
cornered me .
"Hey, don't you think I'm handsome?"
I didn't reply still in shock, his face inching closer, then all of a sudden someone yanked him back, his back facing me , it was Dominic, and at the same time Ren came " Elisa, your parents are looking for you "
" Hey I told you not to do that" He said to Sam, that was now on ground.
"Brother!" Sam whinced, looking hurt or at least pretending to be.
"Go back" Dominic said glancing at me. I have never been so grateful.
"Thankyou" I said to him while walking away , hearing Sam wailing.
I thanked Ren too , while passing by, to which he only nodded, shortly after following me.
Then after dinner we went home.
That was one hell of a day, after that their family visited us a couple of times , but at that time either I was out with my friends or just locked myself in my room refusing to go out. I've been avoiding them since the party.
Two months later from the birthday party
I was at my house sketching when Lisa called, "Hey, Elisa wanna hang out with us ? I won't take no for an answer I know you've been down lately, so lets go out, everyone's coming" She said in one breath ,
"Fine , but you're picking me up " I said chuckling,
"Yep , coming in 10, love ya " She said before cutting the call.
At the cafe
As soon as we entered we saw Ren ,PJ and a bunch of their friends and I knew what was coming .
"Ooh...." Shifu started teasing me. Again.
"Yeah, whatever. " I dismissed jokingly.
"Yeah yeah if you know , you know." Anu said
" So... Elisa so how's everything going?" Shifu asked.
"You know, nothing much I'm trying to work hard for the entrance exam ,since we're low on money"
"Its alright, I know you can do it" She said , followed by both Anu and Lisa
"Thanks for this, i mean it " I said
"It's fine , that's what we are here for " Anu said
"Yep" Shifu and Lisa said at the same time.
"Anyways how's that boy that you told us about?" Lisa asked "You know I've been avoiding him since" I replied.
"And one more thing Ren was there at his birthday party. " I said as if revealing a secret.
"Woah .. really?" They asked
"YeP" I said popping on the 'p'.
"Hey, Elisa, are y'all talking about me?" a voice came from behind me and a shiver ran down my spine, I looked ahead to see all the three faces glaring behind me angrily,
"Hey! Stay away from her!" Lisa shouted angrily ,sensing his manner of words , his closemness and my discomfort.
" Yeah!" Both Anu and Shifu said at the same time .
"Calm down ladies, I just wanted to greet my beloved crush" Sam said smugly and I could feel his stare,
"What do you want ?" I said confronting him after avoiding him for all this while.
"You!" He chimed.
"Get lost then" I said, frustration evident in my voice.
"Nope, I won't, not until you say that I'm handsome ." He replied mischievously.
"Not until you die" I said leaving the place with the three of them following behind, glaring at him as we leave.
"Then kill me with your own hands " He said stopping me.
"Gladly , some other day " I said trying to leave .
"Not so fast" He said with his hand in front of me.
"WHAT DO YOU WANT!" I shouted angrily
"Well , father wants to see you" He replied calmly.
"Why should i trust you?" I asked
"Because, i am trustworthy" He shrugged
'No, you're not' I thought to myself
"Fine, lets go " I said thinking I could end this once and for all .
"Tell mother " I turned to the three .
"You know I'm handsome right" Sam asked again .
"Shut up" I said , after that he didn't say anything the whole car ride .
As we reached there I saw Uncle sitting at the couch ,
"Ahh! Isa you're here" He said
'Whats with the sudden nickname?' I thought.
" Good afternoon, uncle" I wished him
"Im sorry Elisa we're running late, so i will hurry and tell you my business" He said hastily
"Are you going somewhere?" I asked
"Yes, we need to attend my daughter's sports tournament " he replied .
"Actually, i want you to tutor my daughter, I heard that you can help , its just for a month " he said ,
"I will think about it, since i might get busy soon." I replied.
"Its alright, tell me when you're ready" He said while leaving.
