Satoshi didn't open the envelope right away. Instead, he threw the Poké Ball inside.
A white light flashed, and a small green Pokémon appeared.
Its body was grass-green, with a darker shade at the tail. Its belly was rose-red, and it had big yellow eyes. Its hands and feet each had three round fingers, and two ridges adorned the top of its head.
Satoshi looked at the familiar Pokémon. Unperturbed, he calmly took out his Pokédex.
[Name: Treecko
Type: Grass
Ability: Overgrow (At critical moments, Grass-type moves are 1.5 times stronger)
Level: 5
Potential: Quasi-Elite
Skills: Pound, Leer, Absorb]
"I was just thinking about catching a Grass-type Pokémon, and now one has come directly to me," Satoshi mused with a raised brow.
He wasn't surprised by the appearance of Treecko, one of the Hoenn Region's starter Pokémon. Instead, he marveled at the convenience.
"What's this called again? When you feel sleepy, someone brings you a pillow?"
Chuckling, Satoshi crouched down and extended his hand toward Treecko with a kind smile.
Treecko looked at its new Trainer. Thanks to the power of Evergreen, it could sense Satoshi's genuine kindness. It extended a hand in return, shaking the hand that was reaching for its head.
One human and one Pokémon shaking hands—it was a peculiar yet heartwarming sight.
"Alright, it's getting late. You should rest at the Pokémon Center. I look forward to battling you again soon," Brock said with a smile.
After waving goodbye, Brock headed back to the gym.
Satoshi glanced at the sky, noticing that it had turned a golden hue. "It's already dusk," he muttered, recalling how quickly the day had passed.
He returned Treecko to its Poké Ball and walked toward the Pokémon Center.
Pewter City Pokémon Center – Trainer Room
Satoshi lay sprawled on the bed, stretching lazily.
Charmeleon, Frogadier, and the newly acquired Treecko were busy enjoying their dinner nearby.
"In just half a day, I feel like I've been through so much. It's exhausting," Satoshi muttered, pulling up his panel to review the day's gains.
"As always, let's tally up the rewards."
[Name: Satoshi

Pokémon Owned: 22
Badges: 0
Location: Kanto Region]
"The Pokédex has six new entries: Bulbasaur, Pikachu, Froakie, Onix, Aerodactyl, and Treecko. That checks out."
Satisfied, Satoshi opened his item inventory, where the latest rewards from the gym battle were stored.
[Miracle Seed], Gold Bottle Cap, TM: Giga Drain, TM: SolarBeam, Old Amber
"After this gym match, I've received nearly everything necessary for a Grass-type Pokémon. Even this Gold Bottle Cap—it's perfect for Treecko. Is this luck or what?"
Satoshi smiled faintly as he considered his good fortune.
"Treecko can learn a lot of moves. Let's teach it everything that suits it."
He accessed his TM inventory and applied all compatible moves to Treecko.
"Ding! Treecko has learned: Giga Drain, SolarBeam, Iron Tail, Double Team, Thunder Punch, Aerial Ace!"
Satisfied, Satoshi pulled out the seven Silver Crowns from his inventory and decided to use them on Treecko.
"Ding! The probability of Treecko's potential breakthrough with the Silver Crown is 35%. Proceed?"
"Use it."
"Ding! Treecko's potential breakthrough failed."
Satoshi frowned slightly but wasn't deterred. "Alright, keep going."
"Ding! Treecko's potential breakthrough succeeded! Potential increased to Elite level!"
Satoshi stared at the remaining Gold Bottle Cap, debating. "I'll hold onto this for now. It's meant for breaking into Champion-level potential, and I only used it before when I didn't have many Silver Crowns. Now, I've got five left. I'll save this for later."
Satisfied with Treecko's progress, he used another Silver Crown.
"Ding! The probability of Treecko's potential breakthrough with the Silver Crown is 25%. Proceed?"
"Use it."
"Ding! Treecko's potential breakthrough failed."
"Ding! Treecko's potential breakthrough failed."
"Ding! Treecko's potential breakthrough succeeded! Potential increased to Champion level!"
With all Silver Crowns exhausted, Satoshi wasn't upset. He now considered the Gold Bottle Cap a precious asset for future use.
He equipped Treecko with the Miracle Seed, boosting its Grass-type moves, and opened its updated stats.
[Name: Treecko

Held Item: Miracle Seed (+30% Grass-type move power)
Potential: Champion

Satoshi felt a sense of satisfaction seeing Treecko's improved stats.
With the day's inventory reviewed, he turned to the mysterious letter in the package.
Opening it, he found a single cryptic sentence:
"No need to doubt—just grow stronger."
Satoshi rolled his eyes. "What kind of nonsense is this?"
He crumpled the letter into a ball and handed it to Charmeleon.
Charmeleon caught it, Spit Up a small flame, and incinerated the letter into ashes.
Frogadier dutifully held a trash can to catch the remains.
"It's been a long day. I'm beat. Let's call it a night," Satoshi said, addressing his Pokémon.
"You three rest here. I'm logging out."
With that, Satoshi lay back and went offline.
