Chapter 49 - Chapter:49

"Frogadier! Use [Water Pulse] to finish it off!"

At the foot of Mt. Moon, Satoshi stood firm, directing Frogadier in battle.

"Quack!"

Without hesitation, Frogadier formed a rippling ball of water, launching it straight at the opponent's battered Pokémon.

Facing them was a rugged mountaineer named Max, along with his Sandslash, which was in a dire state.

Max was a Trainer native to the Mt. Moon area, known for his strength. While he typically battled other players with a level 12 Sandshrew, he brought out his level 23 Sandslash against Satoshi—a special exception.

Satoshi didn't bother questioning why. To him, everything that didn't make sense was simply attributed to the game's version differences.

Despite Sandslash's evolved strength, it was no match for Satoshi's team. Sandslash lay fainted, completely defeated.

"Darn it! I lost," Mountaineer Max muttered bitterly.

"Ding! Frogadier gained experience! Frogadier leveled up to Lv27!"

"Ding! Charmeleon gained experience! Charmeleon leveled up to Lv28! Learned [Fire Fang]!"

"Ding! Treecko gained experience! Treecko leveled up to Lv15! Learned [Quick Attack] and [Mega Drain]!"

"Ding! You defeated Mountaineer Max! Earned 2000 Alliance Coins and 1 Great Ball."

Satoshi recalled Frogadier with a smile and waved politely at Max before heading deeper into Mt. Moon.

Upon arriving at the foot of Mt. Moon, Satoshi wasted no time. He challenged the local Trainers one by one, including Max.

Although every Trainer he faced used Pokémon above level 20, it was still a grind for his team. Charmeleon and Frogadier each managed to level up only once despite the effort.

Treecko, however, benefited immensely from the Exp. Share, quickly reaching level 15. Satoshi knew it was only one level away from evolving.

"In an area like Mt. Moon, where level 20 Pokémon are common, a level 5 Treecko would've had no chance," Satoshi mused. "But with Exp. Share, it's catching up fast. Soon, it'll be ready to fight on its own."

Satisfied with Treecko's progress, Satoshi released both Treecko and Charmeleon to accompany him. He planned to let Treecko face suitable opponents to gain battle experience, while Charmeleon stood by for backup when needed.

As if fate was on his side, Satoshi soon encountered the perfect opponent for Treecko to practice against—a wild Geodude.

[Name: Geodude

Type: Rock/Ground

Ability: Sturdy

Level: 19]

Satoshi smirked.

Even though Treecko was only level 15, it had an overwhelming advantage with type effectiveness. With skills like [Giga Drain], Geodude wouldn't stand a chance.

[Giga Drain]: Inflicts damage on the target and restores the user's HP by 50% of the damage dealt.

The battle played out predictably. Treecko used [Iron Tail] to chip away at Geodude's defense, then unleashed [Giga Drain] to finish it off, leaving Geodude completely drained.

"Ding! Treecko gained experience! Level +2! Treecko leveled up to Lv17! Learned [Pursuit]!"

As the defeated Geodude slumped to the ground, Treecko began to glow with an intense white light, much to the astonishment of the other Trainer.

Treecko was evolving.

"Ding! Congratulations! Your Treecko has evolved into Grovyle! Learned [Fury Cutter]!"

[Name: Grovyle

Type: Grass

Ability: Overgrow

Level: 17]

Treecko had transformed. Grovyle's sharper eyes and more defined features gave it a striking, battle-ready appearance. Dark green leaves adorned its wrists like blades, perfect for moves like [Fury Cutter] and [Leaf Blade]. A long leaf extended from its head, while its tail had grown sleeker and more agile.

"Impressive," Satoshi remarked. "With this evolution, higher-level battles just became much easier."

Satisfied, Satoshi patted Grovyle on the head. Though its aggression had increased with evolution, Grovyle still followed Satoshi's commands obediently.

"Don't get cocky just yet," Satoshi teased. "You've got a long way to go before catching up to Charmeleon and Frogadier."

Grovyle, despite its newfound strength, understood its place in the team hierarchy. It nodded earnestly, determined to grow stronger under Satoshi's guidance.

Satoshi knew he was relentless. In the eyes of other players, he was a "grinding maniac," someone who never stopped leveling. But to the Pokémon in his team, he was much more than that—he was a battle master.

For Satoshi, leveling wasn't just about power. It was a preparation for the future—a future where this game world would merge with reality, and everything he achieved here would become part of his strength.

"Let's keep going, Grovyle. There's still a lot of training ahead."

With his team by his side, Satoshi continued deeper into Mt. Moon, ready to face whatever challenges awaited him.
