Chapter 51 - Chapter:51

[Name: Riolu

Attribute: Fighting

Ability: Mischievous Heart

Level: Level 20

Potential: Elite]

Yes, the blue and black Pokémon standing in front of Satoshi was none other than Riolu, the Fighting-type Pokémon from the Sinnoh region.

Riolu's body was sleek, its fur a striking blue, with black markings on its legs, torso, and face. It had bright red eyes that radiated sharpness and resolve. Even in its unevolved state, Riolu had an impressive, almost heroic aura.

"Riolu, huh? You're as handsome as I expected," Satoshi muttered, taking in its small but confident stance.

Riolu's final evolution, Lucario, not only boasted the Fighting and Steel types but also wielded the incredible power of waveguides. Lucario's versatility and strength made it one of the most iconic Pokémon in any Trainer's lineup.

"And its ability…" Satoshi's gaze sharpened. "Mischievous Heart now, huh? After evolving, that'll turn into Justified."

Justified was a special ability that increased Lucario's Attack stat every time it was hit by a Dark-type move. The more attacks it took, the stronger it would become—making it a nightmare for any Dark-type Pokémon to face.

"This Riolu is a goldmine," Satoshi said with a grin. "I have to catch it."

Just as Satoshi was about to command Grovyle to battle, a sharp voice echoed in his mind.

"Are you the one who captured the Machop family in this region?"

Satoshi froze. His pupils shrank slightly, but his hands moved quickly. In an instant, he released Charmeleon and Frogadier alongside Grovyle, all of whom took protective stances in front of him.

Grovyle glanced around in confusion, clearly surprised by Satoshi's sudden reaction, but it quickly aligned itself with Charmeleon and Frogadier to guard Satoshi.

The surroundings were eerily silent. There was no sign of anyone—or any other Pokémon—nearby. The only visible creature was Riolu.

Satoshi narrowed his eyes and turned to face the small Fighting-type.

"…Waveguides," Satoshi muttered under his breath. "I completely forgot Riolu can communicate using the power of waveguides."

Waveguide energy was an extraordinary phenomenon in the Pokémon world. Those who possessed it—like Riolu and its evolution, Lucario—could use it to sense life energy, communicate telepathically, and even launch attacks or build defenses.

To Satoshi, the voice he'd just heard was unmistakably Riolu's.

"Human Trainer, you still haven't answered me. Did you capture the Machop family in this area?"

Riolu's voice echoed in Satoshi's mind once more, its tone sharp and suspicious.

Satoshi frowned but didn't let his irritation show. While Riolu's sudden questioning was a bit rude, he didn't want to offend it—not when he intended to catch it.

"I just arrived here today," Satoshi answered calmly. "I caught a few Machop, yes, but I didn't see anything like a family. If the three I caught are who you're referring to, then I can't say much about that."

Riolu stared at him intently, its red eyes glowing faintly as it analyzed Satoshi's words.

"Through your waveguide, I can sense that you're not lying," Riolu admitted, withdrawing slightly from its battle stance. "But you're the only one deep in Mt. Moon right now, so it's hard not to be suspicious."

As Riolu spoke, its expression softened, and its tension visibly eased.

"There's a natural power within you… a force unlike anything I've sensed before. You don't seem like an evil person."

Satoshi raised an eyebrow. "The power of Evergreen…" he thought, suddenly realizing Riolu had detected it.

While he was surprised, Satoshi quickly considered this an advantage. Pokémon like Riolu and Lucario were drawn to those with strong wills and just intentions. If Riolu could sense the power of Evergreen, it might be more willing to join him.

He decided to press his luck.

"Ahem. My name's Satoshi," he said, smiling warmly. "You look pretty worried about the Machop. How about I release the ones I just caught? Maybe you can talk to them and get some answers. Who knows—you might find out what you're looking for."

Without waiting for Riolu to respond, Satoshi took out three Poké Balls and released the Machop he'd caught earlier.

The three Machop appeared in front of Satoshi, blinking in surprise as they looked around. When they saw Riolu, their eyes lit up with recognition. They let out happy cries and rushed over as if reuniting with an old friend or brother.

Riolu's wary expression softened completely.

"I apologize for doubting you, Satoshi," Riolu said, bowing slightly. "You've done me a great favor. I'll talk to them and learn what I can. Give me a moment."

With that, Riolu turned to the three Machop and began communicating with them. While Satoshi couldn't understand Riolu's waveguide-based telepathy, he could clearly hear the responses from the Machop. Their cries were filled with urgency and relief.

"Looks like they're telling Riolu everything," Satoshi muttered to himself. He crossed his arms, watching the scene with curiosity.

Riolu continued its conversation, its calm demeanor giving way to moments of concern as it listened. Clearly, whatever the Machop were explaining wasn't good news.
