The room was quiet except for the light sound coming from the air conditioner. Isla held Kai close to her chest worried that if she loosened her grip then he'd disappear right before her eyes. She didn't know if she should be grateful that he had saved her or terrified because he's a werewolf. She didn't know if this was her old pack. They didn't have an infirminary then but maybe things changed in the past three years.
She had so many questions that she wanted to ask him all at the same time. Who was he? Did he know that she was a werewolf back at the cafe? Was that why he was interested in her?
But she didn't ask any of it. The only thing that mattered to her right now was to take her son far away from this place. Even if this wasn't her pack but another,it just meant that hers won't be so far away either.
