The silence in the library stretched uncomfortably long and suffocating. The room seemed to have returned back to normal except for a few books that now laid on the floor. The air now smelt damp and soggy as if something had been moved during the explosion.
Isla exhaled heavily as she stared at the book on the floor. She didn't know what that was and what happened. It confirmed that there was really something about this book. She reached for the book which now laid at her feet.
Zade was right beside her,his body at alert ready to swing into action just in case something else happened. He had seen a great deal of magic in his time but he didn't know anything about a magic book. He wondered if the book was cursed.
Isla held the book for a moment waiting for something to happen but nothing happened. Her fingers trembled as she touched the old cover. It was made of leather and it felt warm as if it was alive. She wondered if she was imagining it pulsing under her fingertips.
