Haisley escorted her husband to the front, Lucas instead of leaving, now hugged his wife's waist. "Don't ever think I would have chosen her if she had been my first love. She's long dead to me even though I couldn't forget her for a while. That was then, not now, so it should not be her place to be by my side. I'm with you now, being Luke's husband and father—our son. Now, tomorrow and the days to come, you and Luke and our children will be the only ones in my life. Don't say that again, hum?" said Lucas in his softest tone of voice.
He really didn't like what his wife had said. Maybe his feelings this time were calmer than yesterday, so Haisley's words made him uncomfortable. He had yet to find an answer about his feelings for his wife. But, whatever the answer would be, he would still choose to be with Haisley and their child.
