Seraphina stirred awake, lashes fluttering open to the soft glow of morning light bleeding through the curtains. The room was quiet, warm, and the first thing she felt was not the silk sheets, but the man wrapped around her. His arms were caged tightly around her waist, possessive and unmoving, like he'd gripped her all night and couldn't bear the thought of letting go. His face was buried in her neck, breath brushing over her skin in slow, steady exhales, the scruff of his jaw lightly grazing her throat.
She smiled faintly, body aching in a delicious, well-used way as she savored the closeness. His bare chest was flush against her back, skin to skin, heat to heat. She shifted just slightly—and froze when she felt him, hard and pressed firmly against her from behind.
