If Dante hadn't been in the picture, Dove would have still gone through with it. But seeing him there made her want to get his opinion too—for some reason.
Maybe it was a boost of confidence? Who knew?
Dante continued to watch Dove as she explained her plan, his gaze unwavering. He didn't interrupt, didn't rush her, just listened with an intensity that made her heart beat a little faster. When she finally finished, he leaned back slightly, lips curving into a slow, approving smile.
"That's not a bad idea at all, Dove."
Hearing those words from him, a sense of satisfaction settled in her chest, and she smiled too. But then, just as she was about to let herself bask in that moment, Dante raised an eyebrow. His expression shifted slightly, as if he was thinking of something else entirely.
"But…" he said, trailing off.
Dove's brows knitted together. She didn't like the sound of that hesitation. "But what? Is there something wrong?"
