Morana's Point Of View
I walked out of the office without a second glance, my steps firm, my head high. The tension in my body was unbearable, but I refused to let them see it.
Behind me, Isabella's voice rang out, sharp and filled with venom.
"Morana!"
I ignored her.
"You ungrateful wretch! How dare you walk out on your father?!"** Isabella screamed, her voice filled with unhinged rage.
I froze.
Slowly, I turned back to her, my eyes narrowing.
"Excuse me?"
Isabella glared at me, her chest heaving. She was furious. Humiliated. Desperate to regain control.
"You heard me!" she seethed. "How dare you disrespect your father like that? How dare you walk out on him after everything he's done for you?"
A laugh bubbled up in my throat.
A sharp, cruel laugh.
"Everything he's done for me?" I repeated, tasting the words like poison on my tongue.
I took slow, deliberate steps toward her.
She backed away.
