"Wash your face first. You're all red."
The door swung open just as they disappeared inside.
Nana stood there, arms laden with shopping bags. Behind her were two bespectacled girls with a studious air.
The sight of a strange man in their dorm left them frozen, mouths agape—ready to scream.
Nana quickly cut in, "Don't freak out! This is Lily's boyfriend. He must've brought her back."
"Lily's in the bathroom!"
Ryan, older and far calmer, stepped forward with an easy smile. "You must be Lily's roommates. Nice to meet you."
"You scared me!"
One girl clutched her chest. "I thought we had a burglar!"
Ryan chuckled. "A burglar? With faces like yours, I'd be the one getting robbed."
The girl blushed, rolled her eyes, and scurried off to unpack.
The knock earlier had clearly been Nana's warning. Ryan watched as she quietly placed her purchases on Lily's bed before sidling up to him.
"How'd you know someone was inside?" he murmured.
"I saw your car parked out front."
