I barely noticed the cold air brushing against my skin as I stepped into the hallway, my mind tangled in research data. My body was tired, my head heavy from overanalyzing numbers that refused to give me the breakthrough I desperately needed.
I was only heading to the restroom, just a quick break before diving back in. But as I turned the corner, something caught my attention.
A figure stood near the building entrance.
I slowed my steps. Calvin was still standing there.
He wasn't moving toward me, wasn't calling out, he was just standing there, watching.
Our eyes met for a fleeting second.
He raised a hand in silent acknowledgment.
I hesitated before lifting my own hand in response. A simple, casual wave.
Then, as if satisfied, Calvin turned and walked away.
I frowned slightly but shook my head. Weird.
Brushing it off, I continued toward the restroom, pushing aside the exhaustion pressing against me.
