Alexandra's POV—
"What do you plan to do in the future?" asked Shuren.
My plan? It's not simple as one will think. I answered, "I don't know. There are plenty of things that I need to do. But first, I have to go to the hospital."
I sat in a chair near the windowsill and looked outside. There are too many mysteries involving this world. Everything is so damn confusing that it makes me… suspicious. Clearly, the system is not on my side.
Intrigued, Lia asked, "Which hospital?"
I observed the honey blonde haired woman and replied, "The hospital near this town." Hearing my words, her eyes widened. Clearly, she never expected me to go there.
Over these past few hours, I have learned something about these five women. Shuren Scot, a half-Chinese and half-American, is a vlogger who was… vlogging before the apocalypse hit her. She even claimed that she was the one who recorded the first attack of zombies in her city.
Shimran Kaur, an Indian woman, who was a student before the apocalypse hit her life, disrupting it completely.
Lia Wright is a writer, whose books aren't read by anyone. Frustrated by her life, she divorced her husband and left her baby with him, leaving with the alimony to start a new life.
Jessie Lance is a dancer whereas, her sister, Weslie Lance is a singer. Their parents are dead because of the apocalypse. All of them got caught by that bastard and his family.
Shuren said, "Well, we are going there and you are more than welcome to join us."
"Before that… I want to ask you something," Shimran asked me. Her tone suggested that whatever she was going to ask, it wouldn't be good for me.
I nodded, "You can ask." If you hear my words closely, then you can probably feel my hesitation.
She said, "You lied to us, didn't you? You were covered with blood at that time. It wasn't of your loved ones, right? It was of the zombies that you have killed."
Shimran finished with a clear statement. She knew that I was lying to them but didn't expose me.
Sighing, I asked, "How did you know?"
Instead of her, Shuren was the one who answered my question. "Your strength said everything out loud. No one can just chop… 'cut' a door with an axe. Even men can't, yet you did. Although we haven't seen you kill Henrich, we know you must have something which helped you to fight him. You look like a frail woman but it's just deception. No one will ever suspect you are that capable. Everyone will believe you to be a weak woman who can't survive without protection."
I scrutinized Shuren's reaction carefully and asked, "What would be your reaction if I do have something to help me?"
Shuren shrugged, "It's fine. We won't pry on your secret. It's completely your choice."
I looked at their reactions, and made up my mind. They are just curious, nothing more. And certainly, they weren't jealous. If I am not wrong, they were throwing me some looks of admiration from those curious eyes.
I said, "I will tell you." Obviously, I can't tell them everything but I can reveal some details to them. Trust always goes two ways. I do trust them, and these women do trust me as well.
I continued, "Like Henrich, in future there will be more people with abilities. These would be similar to the abilities in the novel. It's just a speculation, nothing more."
"A speculation? If it is true, then can we have abilities as well?" asked Shimran.
I leaned back in the chair, and closed my eyes. "Hmmm… it's a speculation. Perhaps in the future it may change. Even I am not that certain about it. But there is a possibility of you all to develop an ability. It depends on your luck."
Shimran commented, "You know, my professor always did say something similar to this."
My eyes snapped open in confusion. I asked, "What's your professor have to do with this?"
