It was the fourth morning for the beast in the forest and the third day after the candles had been buried.
This was the day the candles were to be exhumed and the day for the ritual. It was the day he would gain back his humanity.
"Tis the third day since the candles were buried. Shall they be exhumed now?" He asked when she awoke.
"Nay. Not yet. We wait, till it's dark. Then we can pull them out and start the ritual."
Their morning played out naturally. Lydia heated up the meat from the previous day and served it to him for breakfast.
When he asked why she wasn't eating with him, she explained that she was preparing herself for the ritual.
"I must preserve myself till tonight. I cannot touch even a drop of water until after the ritual is over." Was what she told him. "Like the candles needed preparation and purification, I also as the intercessor need be prepared and purified by observing a fast and cleansing my body and heart for the ritual to be complete."
