After several vicious incidents in Seireitei, the entire Gotei 13 was shrouded in a sense of unease.
While it couldn't be said that everyone was in immediate danger, there was an undeniable tension, as if an unseen enemy lurked just out of sight.
In a dimly lit alley within Seireitei, a dozen Shinigami gathered, whispering among themselves.
"Hey, have you heard about the recent incidents?"
"Of course! Why do you think we're stuck working overtime on patrols?"
"I heard the person who killed Captain Ichimaru and Captain Aizen attacked the Central 46 Chambers twice. Just thinking about it gives me chills."
"But our mission is to track down the Ryoka, right? What does that have to do with this person?"
"We can't afford to cross paths with someone like that. No matter how dangerous the Ryoka are, they're nothing compared to someone who'd dare attack the Central 46."
As the Shinigami slackened their patrol, chatting in hushed tones, a loud quarrel from nearby caught their attention.
"Hey, old man! Stop following me!"
"Hah! You're the one following me, kid!"
"If it wasn't for my sister asking me to tag along, I wouldn't be in this haunted place with you!"
"You're an idiot!"
Kurosaki Ichigo and Shiba Kaien were bickering and shoving each other, exchanging jabs as they moved through the streets.
In the midst of their argument, they spotted a group of Shinigami in standard uniforms approaching from a distance.
Realizing the danger, both Ichigo and Kaien bolted down the alley.
Moments later, the Shinigami who heard the commotion joined the pursuit.
Elsewhere, Ishida Uryū dusted himself off, confirming that the Shinigami he'd defeated were out cold. Beside him, Inoue Orihime followed as they wandered deeper into Seireitei.
Suddenly, eerie laughter echoed from nearby.
"A Quincy, hmm? I haven't had the pleasure of experimenting on one in years," Kurotsuchi Mayuri said, his eyes gleaming with excitement as he emerged from the shadows, his unsettling chuckles filling the air.
Meanwhile, Sado Yasutora, separated from his friends, stood silently before a slouching figure blocking his path.
With a sudden roar, Chad charged, and the battle commenced.
Across Seireitei, Ichigo and his friends faced their own perilous challenges.
Outside the entrance to the Central 46 Chambers, Unohana Retsu paused, startled by a sound behind her. Turning, she saw Hinamori Momo, eyes red and swollen from crying, staring at her with a conflicted expression.
"Hinamori? What are you doing here?" Unohana asked calmly.
"Captain Unohana, I'm here to speak with the Central 46. Even if I'm punished for acting recklessly, I can't let Captain Aizen's death be in vain!" Hinamori's voice trembled with emotion.
Unohana observed her quietly, then offered a gentle smile. "We all grieve for Captain Aizen, but you must calm yourself. Seireitei is in turmoil. This matter needs to be approached carefully."
After some gentle coaxing, Hinamori's emotional state stabilized, but she stubbornly followed Unohana, unwilling to leave her side.
Seeing no alternative, Unohana allowed Hinamori to accompany her into the Central 46 Chambers.
They passed through an empty hall, entering a long corridor. Unohana's brow furrowed. Something was wrong—there were no guards in sight. This was highly unusual.
"Hinamori, stay here. I'll go ahead and check. Be on your guard," Unohana instructed solemnly.
Hinamori nodded, watching as Unohana disappeared down the corridor. Alone, a strange feeling crept over her.
"Hinamori, you're here."
A gentle voice spoke from behind.
Her heart leapt. She knew that voice—it was Captain Aizen.
Turning slowly, she saw Aizen Sōsuke standing a short distance away, a warm smile on his face.
"Captain Aizen?"
Hinamori's eyes widened in disbelief before she rushed into his arms, tears streaming down her face.
"Captain Aizen, you're alive! I never thought I'd see you again!"
She sobbed uncontrollably, overwhelmed by relief.
Aizen patted her back gently, his smile serene. "It's alright, Hinamori. I'm here."
As the initial shock wore off, Hinamori realized she was still clinging to him. Blushing, she quickly stepped back, wiping her tears.
Just as she was about to speak, a sharp pain pierced her abdomen.
Her eyes widened in shock as she looked up at Aizen, confusion and betrayal written across her face.
"C-Captain Aizen?"
But the gentle smile had vanished, replaced by an expression of cold indifference.
"What should I do next, Aizen-sama?" Tousen Kaname asked, stepping out from the shadows, his voice respectful and emotionless.
As Hinamori collapsed into a pool of her own blood, Aizen let out a disdainful snort, turning to Tousen.
"Tousen, all you need to do now is wait."
Hinamori gasped, clutching her wound, but Aizen paid her no further mind.
"But first," Aizen continued, glancing toward the doors of the Central 46 Chambers, "there's one more issue to address."
Inside, Unohana had discovered the carnage—the Central 46 lay slain. Realization dawned swiftly: Aizen was not dead.
Emerging from the chambers, she spotted Aizen and Tousen across the corridor.
Aizen met her gaze with a serene smile. "Captain Unohana, I didn't expect to see you here."
Unohana's eyes narrowed, recalling the grisly scene she'd just witnessed.
"Was this your doing?" she asked coldly.
Aizen nodded slightly, then turned to Tousen. "Tousen, head to the Sōkyoku Hill and wait for me there."
Tousen donned his Hollow mask, his form fading into the shadows.
"Today has certainly been chaotic," Aizen mused, shaking his head. Slowly, he drew his Zanpakutō, its blade gleaming ominously.
