Chapter 48: Wake-Up Call
The next morning, Raphael barely had time to enjoy the warmth of the bed before his phone started blaring.
He groaned, rubbing his face before blindly reaching for the device on the nightstand.
"Ines, why do I have a bad feeling about this call?" he mumbled.
Ines, still half-asleep, let out a muffled noise into her pillow. "Because your coach hates you?"
Raphael snorted. "That's fair."
Sighing, he finally swiped the call open and put the phone to his ear. "Yeah?"
"YEAH?! THAT'S ALL YOU HAVE TO SAY TO ME?"
Raphael immediately winced and pulled the phone away from his ear. Ines, now fully awake, sat up and blinked at him.
"Wow. I heard that," she said, rubbing her temples. "Is he always this loud?"
"No," Raphael grumbled. "Usually, he's worse."
"ARE YOU EVEN LISTENING TO ME, YOU DUMBASS?" the coach roared through the speaker. "YOU HAVE A MATCH ON FRIDAY, AND YOU'RE OUT HERE PLAYING HOUSE? WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU?"
