Chapter 50: A Massive Gold Coin Drop!
Kakashi's face was filled with disbelief, and there was even a hint of anger between his brows.
Obito was his best friend, and that friend had long since died as a hero of Konoha!
Now, Haruta had brought up Obito again, and even claimed he was the attacker. This was something Kakashi truly couldn't understand or accept.
"Haruta, are you sure you're not mistaken?"
Hiruzen Sarutobi was also taken aback upon hearing that name, but he quickly recalled the origin of Kakashi's Sharingan and understood the reason for Kakashi's anger.
After some thought, he offered a reminder.
"Obito died a long time ago, and when he died, his eye... Forget it, just tell us what you discovered."
"Yes."
Haruta knew this matter wouldn't be easy for others to believe, but he didn't mind. He had both evidence and eyewitnesses—there was nothing to worry about.
"After completing my mission, I was planning to go home, but unexpectedly, I ran into that brat, Naruto..."
Haruta briefly explained his situation. He wasn't afraid to mention Naruto, and Hiruzen showed no particular reaction upon hearing about it.
However, when Haruta described how he had sensed spatial fluctuations and then discovered Uchiha Itachi, Hiruzen's brows furrowed.
He soon regretted it, though, because Haruta immediately launched into an elaborate explanation of his "cover-up operation."
Was this something you could just say in front of everyone?
Even if you're trying to deceive people, you don't need to be this detailed, right?
Sweeping his gaze toward Uchiha Fugaku, Hiruzen saw that his face was ashen.
Meanwhile, Danzo, despite his calm appearance, seemed to harbor some sense of regret—or so it felt to Haruta.
As for the others, they all remained silent. This kind of thing was too sensitive for anyone to comment on casually.
"Alright, enough."
With no other choice, Hiruzen had to cut him off.
"So, you're saying he came out because he was worried you'd destroy the evidence?"
"Yes."
Although Haruta was a bit frustrated at being interrupted, he still nodded honestly.
"And when he saw you, I suddenly noticed he possessed a Sharingan, but its form was rather strange."
As he spoke, Haruta took out some paper and a pen, quickly sketching the shape of Obito's Mangekyō Sharingan.
"It looked like this. At first, I suspected it was an act of Uchiha's revenge—after all, I was the examiner when Uchiha Itachi took the Chūnin Exam."
He handed the drawing to Hiruzen, whose face darkened as he examined it.
He then passed the sketch to both Uchiha Fugaku and Danzo, having already confirmed in his mind—it was undoubtedly the Mangekyō Sharingan!
"My apologies—I have no right to question you—but you seem to have some misunderstandings about us. The Uchiha clan is not that petty," Uchiha Fugaku said solemnly after studying the drawing.
"Moreover, no one in our clan currently possesses such an eye. It's been a long time since we've seen one like this."
"This is indeed a Sharingan, but it's a more advanced form," Danzo added after taking a deep look at Uchiha Fugaku. He then turned his gaze toward Haruta.
"And after that? How did you conclude that Uchiha was trying to frame you, and how did you identify his true identity? Most importantly—how did you handle the situation?"
These three questions were crucial. If he could figure them out, Danzo might finally have the leverage he needed to act against the Uchiha clan.
The Uchiha… they'd been too restless lately.
"A more advanced form?"
Haruta deliberately blinked but didn't press the issue further.
"As for what happened next, I fought him and confirmed that he was using a space-time technique.
Interestingly, though, his use of the technique seemed relatively slow, and all the chakra fluctuations came from his eye.
Moreover, only one eye was active, which led me to conclude that he had only one such eye, and..."
At this point, Haruta turned to look at Kakashi.
"His eye is the mirror image of Kakashi-senpai's—it's his left eye. And to my knowledge, his body was never found or buried in Konoha."
Haruta's words left everyone in the room silent. Even if it was just a coincidence, it was a direction worth pursuing.
"And to verify it, we only need Kakashi to activate his Sharingan. We might get an unexpected answer."
Getting Kakashi to awaken his Mangekyō Sharingan—this was the strongest evidence Haruta could provide!
Kakashi's Sharingan had long reached this level, but because Obito had died too soon, no one believed Kakashi could achieve it.
It wasn't until Uchiha Itachi thoroughly defeated him that Kakashi gradually began to unlock its potential. Now, Haruta was simply accelerating the process.
Frame me?
I'll just smash your mask to pieces, you idiot!
"I'm willing to help."
After some thought, Uchiha Fugaku volunteered, and Hiruzen nodded.
"Then, I'll leave it to you."
"Kakashi-kun, please relax."
Uchiha Fugaku approached Kakashi, his own eyes activating the Sharingan. Although Kakashi instinctively resisted, he eventually gave a slight nod.
Just as everyone was focused on Kakashi, Haruta suddenly spoke again.
"Also, I suspect he might be connected to the Nine-Tails Incident!"
His words were like a bolt of lightning, shocking everyone present. Even Uchiha Fugaku stiffened momentarily before the room erupted into chaos.
"What?"
"Impossible!"
"Who is this guy?"
"Do you realize what you're saying?"
The Nine-Tails Incident was a deep wound for Konoha. That night, many lost loved ones.
It also cost the village the Fourth Hokage and his wife, leaving Konoha short of top-tier talent.
Danzo even spread rumors that the Uchiha clan used their Sharingan to control the Nine-Tails, furthering public distrust toward them.
The Nine-Tails Incident had profoundly affected Konoha, and now Haruta was suggesting the mysterious attacker was connected to it. How could anyone stay calm?
"What do you mean?"
Hiruzen's expression grew solemn as he fixed a piercing gaze on Haruta.
An ambush on Uchiha Itachi had already exposed so many hidden problems—this was giving him a major headache.
"It's the Flying Thunder God Seal," Haruta sighed and explained.
"When that guy appeared using space-time jutsu, I sensed a Flying Thunder God mark on him.
Although the marks can vary in form, once someone masters them, they become interchangeable.
The mark on him wasn't the Second Hokage's—it was the Fourth Hokage's.
Considering the village rumors that the Uchiha clan controlled the Nine-Tails, it's not far-fetched to suspect he was involved that night.
And it was by using this mark that I managed to ambush and injure him."
"!!!"
Haruta's words left everyone dumbfounded. Yet, the more they thought about it, the more everything seemed to align perfectly.
The Nine-Tails' rampage was undoubtedly caused by someone. Everyone agreed on that.
And Sharingan could control the Nine-Tails—both Hiruzen and Danzo had seen Uchiha Madara do it!
This mysterious attacker possessed a Mangekyō Sharingan, meaning he was capable of the same feat.
Furthermore, with his space-time jutsu, he could engage the Fourth Hokage without dying!
Everything fit together perfectly!
"Ah!"
Just then, Kakashi let out a pained groan. His exposed Sharingan began spinning wildly, and in mere moments, the three tomoe merged into the exact same pattern Haruta had drawn!
At that instant, Haruta's vision flashed.
