Chapter 29 - the Arrow of the Gods

───「 GODZILLA POV 」───

After reducing Shizuoka to ruins, Godzilla took half an hour to emerge from the devastation.

It now stood amidst a vast green landscape.

Leaving behind the shattered city and stepping into nature, its massive form seemed even more imposing against the rolling hills. Towering over the forests and mountains, Godzilla was an unstoppable force—an apex predator beyond compare.

Despite its fearsome appearance, its deep blue eyes radiated an eerie serenity.

Even the tallest trees, planted by human hands, barely reached the height of its four massive toes.

The King of Monsters had fully arrived in this world.

For the first time since awakening, Godzilla beheld the earth's greenery, stretching as far as the eye could see. The sight reminded it of the ancient rainforests that once covered South America—lush, vibrant, alive.

Had this land been teeming with life, with colorful creatures roaming its expanse, perhaps Godzilla might have hesitated in its crusade against humankind.

But reality was far from that.

With each step, tremors rippled across the earth.

Godzilla's 300,000-ton legs struck the ground at 70 meters per second.

The impact alone sent shockwaves tearing through the landscape, flattening forests within a hundred-meter radius while extending devastation for a kilometer beyond.

The soil split apart, deep fissures cracking across hundreds of meters. Every footstep carried the force of a dozen high-powered missile strikes.

As it picked up speed, the shockwaves intensified, stripping the land of its once-thriving greenery.

To an uninformed observer, Godzilla might have seemed like the destroyer of nature rather than humanity.

And in a way, it was.

The King of Destruction. The reckoning of the human-dominated ecosystem.

An entity whose very existence spelled the end of the world as it was known.

Activating its innate radar, Godzilla sought out the nearest human city.

It wasn't far—just a few dozen kilometers away. At its current speed, it would reach its destination within the hour.

Forests in its path would be flattened. Canyons would be vaporized with atomic fire.

Even the missile strikes from unmanned drones meant nothing. Godzilla barely acknowledged them.

Standing firm on the land of the Far East, it marched toward human civilization with unwavering intent.

The war against humanity had reached its next stage.

───「 Human POV 」───

Inside a military vehicle stationed at the East Asia Army Base in Osaka, General Hirozou Satou, Commander of the Far East Army, placed his teacup down and issued a single order:

"Begin the operation."

In the distance, a swarm of drones closed in once more, launching their payloads at the approaching titan.

Godzilla remained indifferent. It had seen these attacks before. There was no need to retaliate.

But this time, something was different.

The drones weren't carrying conventional explosives.

They were loaded with aluminum thermite incendiary bombs—a new, refined formula.

Instead of burning for 60 seconds, these bombs would now burn for 90.

It was humanity's latest secret weapon.

A desperate gamble against a god.

The drone swarm closed in, raining down fiery death upon the King of Monsters.

At first, Godzilla paid little attention.

Then, the first bomb struck.

Whoosh!

Flames erupted across its dorsal fins, burning with a blinding yellow intensity at a searing 3,000 degrees Celsius.

Bombs continued to rain down, igniting the surrounding forest and engulfing Godzilla in an inferno.

In an instant, the King of Monsters became a walking pillar of fire.

There was no part of its body untouched. No place spared from the unrelenting heat.

The landscape suffered the same fate. The moment the incendiary bombs made contact, the forests erupted into a sea of flames, turning everything into blackened ruin.

The heat radiating from Godzilla's burning form alone was enough to raise the air temperature to nearly 1,000 degrees Celsius.

It was hell on Earth.

And yet, in the heart of the flames, Godzilla remained calm.

───「 GODZILLA POV 」───

What were the humans trying to accomplish?

Yes, 3,000 degrees was a terrifying temperature. More than enough to melt human-made alloys.

But this was not a human.

It's armor had a melting point exceeding 4,000 Kelvin. Its massive body possessed an unmatched thermal capacity.

Aluminum thermite wasn't enough.

If anything, this attack was even less effective than conventional missiles.

At least normal bombs managed to scratch its surface—like peeling away dead skin.

If a hundred thousand missiles struck at once, perhaps, perhaps, they could inflict a wound.

But these incendiary bombs?

Even if millions were dropped, they would accomplish nothing.

So why were they being used?

Godzilla soon found its answer.

───「 Human POV 」───

While it burned beneath the inferno, 160 kilometers away, atop a distant hill, humanity prepared its true weapon.

An array of capacitors flashed to life, storing over 500 million watt-hours of electricity.

At the heart of the facility stood a colossal railgun—300 meters tall, 100 meters wide.

Within its twin tracks, lightning arced, the sheer energy distorting the air itself.

At the far end of the electromagnetic rails, a five-meter-long projectile rested silently.

Then, the coils surged with power.

Electric fields intensified, forcing the projectile forward.

By the time it reached the track, it had already surpassed the speed of sound.

And that was just the beginning.

The superconductors within the railgun produced an unimaginable electromagnetic force.

The sheer energy within them sent the projectile hurtling forward—its speed increasing from Mach 1 to Mach 20 in an instant.

The skin of the projectile vaporized under the intense acceleration, revealing a sharpened warhead within.

Five meters long. Over ten tons. Moving at twenty times the speed of sound.

The shot tore through the air, leaving behind a blazing trail of ionized gases.

As it rocketed toward Godzilla, sonic booms thundered across the land.

And then, the true reason for the incendiary attack became clear.

The aluminum thermite hadn't been meant to destroy Godzilla.

It had been meant to weaken it.

To soften its armor.

At extreme temperatures, even the strongest metals lose their integrity.

This was humanity's plan.

Their final strike.
