Chapter 20 - The White Vortex

We waited until it was dark and rendezvous at the agreed location.

Jake and Ellie were finally happy to get me into their clique again but I really just wanted to kick some drug dealers butt tonight.

Even though we were friends, we just weren't in the same level again. Doesn't mean I don't love and appreciate them.

We wore random clothes so not to attract any unnecessary attention. But, we did bring our superhero gear and our licenses clipped to our chest.

It felt weird holding onto my skateboard again, I would drop it from time to time but I remember when I used to hold tight not wanting to let it go.

Of course I don't care about that skateboard any longer, I'd rather hold onto the Forever Core instead.

We hid behind one of the few cars in a deserted parking lot of a warehouse.

The warehouse has no lights outside but was perfectly luminated on the inside, that's how you know we shouldn't be there for any reason.

We waited and waited until our target arrived.

The Boss, the man that runs The White Vortex crew — Huáng Song.

We knew nothing about him, we just knew that we had to eliminate him if we wanted to neutralize the White Vortex organization.

A black SUV pulled up to the parking lot and we all poised for action.

I could tell, Jake and Ellie were extremely scared. Why wouldn't they be, this was the most dangerous task we have ever attempted.

They had guns and weapons to completely overwhelm us.

While we had a skateboard, a couple riffed boomerangs, and a dozen water balloons. How the hell were we going to use that to cripple a crime syndicate.

Ellie gripped the straps of her backpack, her breathing visibly shallow and erratic. She shook her head furiously, her curls bouncing with the movement.

"Okay, this was a huge mistake," she hissed, her voice rising.

"We are about to die, do you understand? Die! As in, cease to exist! And for what? A half-baked plan with water balloons? Do you know what they have? Guns. Lots of guns! And probably knives! And more guns! And we're sitting we common E-Rank heroes!"

Jake placed a hand on her shoulder, trying to calm her down. "Ellie, calm down. We knew this was risky going in. But if we take down Huáng Song, the entire White Vortex crew will crumble. We just need to—"

Ellie smacked his hand away. "Oh, we just need to? Just need to take down an entire criminal drug gang with a skateboard and some cheap tricks? Jake, I swear, if we survive this, I'm going to throw you into a real vortex."

Jake sighed. "Look, freaking out isn't help us right now. We can do this, we're here there's no turning back. We have the element of surprise. We have a plan, Right Reno?."

Both of them suddenly turned their attention to me as I watched them rant loudly, it was a surprise they hadn't given away our position.

Ellie let out a sharp laugh. "Oh, yeah? What's the plan, Jake? Chuck a boomerang at them and hope they die from secondhand embarrassment?"

I watched the two of them argue, feeling the weight of the Forever Core in my pocket.

I understood Ellie's panic, this was easily the most dangerous thing we've ever done. But it was too late to turn back now.

The SUV door swung open, and a tall figure stepped out.

Huáng Song had arrived.

I exhaled slowly and whispered, "Showtime."

We watched him walk straight into the warehouse and we followed suit, slowly cripping behind the entourage.

"Bad idea"

"Bad idea"

"Bad idea"

"Bad idea"

Ellie was begining to get on my nerves.

They entered inside the warehouse and the massive door began to close down automatically.

Luckily for us we managed to slip through just before the door lowered down shut.

Coming out the other side, we were met with the greatest shock of our lives. The whole crew of the White Vortex were staring straight at us.

I could feel both my friends heart drop, mine dropped too but there was no way I was going to be scared of mere humans with guns running around selling drugs, not after what I've seen and fought against.

Every single person in the warehouse were pointing at least one weapon at us. Be it guns, knives and there was this one guy holding a bazooka and I was pretty sure he was pointing it the wrong way.

Clap, Clap, Clap, Clap.

Suddenly, the sound of someone clapping beat into the air. Jake and Ellies heart sank for every clap. I simply just looked to reveal the leader of the White Vortex.

Huáng Song behind with a bunch of bodyguards surrounding him, a daunting smirk plastered across his face.

"ISA heroes...?" He took notice of the license strapped to our chest.

"Did you not notice the security cameras outside? We've known you were out there the whole time..." He sayed with a chuckle.

"Boys, finish them off. I can tell they ain't strong, D-Class at best. And make sure to give a piece of their body parts to their mummies" Huáng Song finished before disappearing through an exit.

The goons started moving towards us with every intent to harm glinting in their eyes.

"They look so fragile"

"This is so gonna be easy"

"Hehe, there's a pretty little girl there too... My lucky day"

Jake and Ellie took several steps back until they came in contact with the warehouse massive metal door that wouldn't budge.

I knew this was my que to do something, I obviously wouldn't want anything bad to happen to my friends and I definitely didn't want them to know my true capabilities.

'What to do now...' I mused unfazed by the tension in the atmosphere.

'Well, I'll do what I have done...'

*Grit.

I clenched my jaw and with a swift motion, I swooped behind Jake and Ellie and knocked them out with one single blow to the side of their heads.

They instantly went unconscious and fell flat on the floor, I immediately turned to see the surprised faces of the goons staring at me with their mouths wide open.

I took a step forward as I observed the interior of the warehouse. They were no security cameras inside, unlike outside.

'Good...'

I glanced back at the goons, their faces still plastered with confusion, staring at eachother trying to come up with an explanation for my actions.

"Don't worry, I would be surprised too..." I called out.

The warehouse was huge with lots of open space, so it was only natural for an echo to erupt over any little sound.

"I will give you all the chance to leave here unharmed... Just one chance, if you decide to take it for granted and want to test me, come at me"

The warehouse fell into silence and then suddenly they goons started laughing at me untop of their lungs.

They laughed at me like I was some joke, it annoyed me.

I didn't want to go to the extreme of initiating the Forever Armor, I just wanted to test my physical skills without having to use the armor, and the perfect opportunity had just presented itself.
