Chapter 28 - An infinite memory

"So... You mean to say... That you friends are somewhere, and it's not this world?"

Genta crossed his arms, then shook his head quickly, as if trying to give a statement there.

"No, that's not what I mean. I'm not saying they're literally gone from this world, he's there, but he's not really here, you know what I mean?"

"Not at all."

"Well, that frustrates me."

Genta ruffled his hair with a frustrated expression clearly visible on his face.

"I don't understand what you mean, the world is different, you just ramble about it, at least explain to me the mechanism."

Genta took a breath, then he turned to Kaiira, His eyes were so serious, and implied something more.

"Did you know, if two mirrors reflect each other, people sometimes associate it with spiritual things, and the reflection of the mirror, indicates the spirit world, where they live."

Kaiira was silent, still listening to Genta's words, she spoke, cutting off Genta's explanation just like that.

"So... You mean your friend is a spirit?"

Genta tilted his smile, the intersection of the veins clearly visible on his forehead, his face slightly flushed with an expression of holding back annoyance implied there.

"Okay, sorry, go ahead."

Genta took a deep breath, then he continued.

"Basically, the expression is not wrong, but it is also not completely true, basically it is just a useless space, who knows what the use of that place is, like a mirror that watches, the place holds countless memories, whether they come from the future or the past."

Kaiira was lost in thought, she was silent, either she was amazed or she didn't believe it.

"You said that place was useless right? But that place holds memories, Isn't that place at least useful?"

"You think what place holds other people's memories, while the world works with a different mechanism, moreover it's not easy to get to that place, and one thing that makes it worse. That place is an infinite reflection of yourself, it's disgusting you know."

Kaiira got an understanding, she nodded, feeling that Genta's explanation had made her understand.

"Then... How did you get to that place?"

"There's a special way to get in there, but... I'm not sure.

Genta thought twice, this provoked Kaiira to turn to him, one eyebrow raised in confusion.

"Oh really? How can you not be sure?"

Genta thought for a moment, one hand raised to rub his slightly stiff forehead, there was tension there.

"Mmm... I don't know, my friends aren't normal, I know that place trap the perception, but they can get out of there easily, I'm sure of that, but for some reason they don't come back."

Genta let the silence envelop him for a moment, this time he looked up at the sky, lamenting and gazing at it with his eyeballs. Kaiira kept watching him, her eyes dull, but there was curiosity there.

"Let me make it easy, think of the place as a place with a wide gap, it makes it difficult for them to get in, but also difficult to get out, t but even though it is difficult there is a guarantee of returning. Then, something... Maybe something was manipulating the gap to narrow, or worse... It wasn't there at all."

Kaiira turned to Genta, this time giving him her full attention, her voice low and calm as usual.

"What do you mean... There was a third party that trapped your friend there?"

"Yep, that's what I believe."

Kaiira's hand rose to gently stroke her chin, her eyes tracing every passing vehicle, her breath was heard, making Genta glance, paying attention to her.

"Doesn't this sound dangerous, if that person did it on purpose, I mean, he might be aware that there are people he hasn't trapped yet. And the last person is... You."

Genta kept his eyes on Kaiira, while the thin air started to blow, he thought again, and that makes perfect sense. A leaf fell from the tree, dancing right in front of Genta, that's when something scratched his senses.

"That's absolutely true! True! Absolutely true! You're so smart, huh."

Genta pulled Kaiira's hand, jumping away, Kaiira gasped when her body was carried by Genta just like that. His gaze was sharp, sharper than a sword, when his eyes saw a small child sitting on a tree branch, his wide smile spread.

"Who are you? I smell a bad odor from you, are you from that place?"

The air felt silent, as if the oxygen had stopped working, a small chuckle escaped his lips, followed by loud laughter. That little boy, no, he wasn't like a normal little boy, that laugh was more terrifying than anything, it just changed the atmosphere.

He stood up, his feet on the branch with an impossible balance, he bent down, brushing aside the robe he was wearing.

"Let me introduce myself, my name is Noah, from The Alphabet, N."

Genta spat, when he heard his introduction which felt cheesy to him, and clearly something had offended him. He lowered Kaiira from his arms, then looked back at the figure in front of him with a condescending expression.

"So you're one of those bastard Alphabets huh?"

Noah fell silent, his eyes narrowed with a feeling of anger in them, those words hurt his heart as a child. He raised his finger, without a warning a mirror appeared behind Kaiira, and in an instant her body was gone.

"Damn it!!! Give Kaiira back to me!!!"

"Hahahaha, it turns out that other people are very sensitive when someone they love disappears, huh?"

The wind blew, and at a speed equal to it, he was behind Noah, a single blow was sent out with all his might. Genta's eyes widened, as he felt pain spread across his cheek, but this time he was even more surprised, when a mirror protected Noah, and reverse Genta's attack from another mirror.

Genta kicked the air, retreating from the situation, he glared at the figure still floating in the air with his robe fluttering. A damn little kid who doesn't know morals.

This time he was much faster than the previous gust of wind. This time he appeared below, trying to attack his blind spot.

But once again, he only received pain from himself, when the mirror always took his side, appearing suddenly from every direction of attack, as if it would always protect him.

Noah raised his hand, a chunk of glass appeared, so big it seemed like it wanted to tear Genta's body with a very big hole. Genta ran, avoiding the attacks as best he could.

Genta's feet were out of control, he hit a small building, it shattered into pieces and the debris was thrown towards the innocent grandmothers.

He quickly turned his direction, then held the five-meter boulder with his bare hands. He took a breath and turned to the grandmother behind him.

"I'm sorry, Grandma, are you okay?"

Her body stiffened, her eyes widened as wide as possible, how could she not have realized all this time, the old woman's body was not moving, neither were her eyeballs, her breath was held.

Genta looked up, and suddenly his knees felt a little weak, the clouds there stopped moving, as if fighting to move, the hands on his watch stopped, and that was when he realized it.

"Wait... He stopped time? But when did this start?"
