Chapter 3 - 3. Baby devil 2

When Morfeo was four months old, he spoke as if he were a three-year-old child. The servants in the palace had a common song that they used to sing while working and cleaning. One day, while the servants were going about their tasks as usual, some of them approached Morfeo's room and heard a beautiful voice coming from inside. When they entered the room, they found Morfeo standing by the window, looking at the sun and singing the song. They were astonished and shocked to see him standing and singing.

When Morfeo turned to look at them, he was startled and fell to the ground. He was scared at first but then started laughing at their funny expressions.

A month later, Morfeo began walking on his own. This was a nightmare for the servants because Morfeo was so mischievous that they couldn't keep up with him. No one could scare him except Ottavia. When Morfeo's mischief went too far, Ottavia would hit him until he started crying. However, this did not stop Morfeo from causing trouble; in fact, he would become even more mischievous after being hit by Ottavia, and his pranks turned into harm for the servants.

After four months, due to Morfeo's constant troublemaking, many servants quit their jobs at the palace. This led to a shortage of servants, causing some rooms to be left unused. Because of the lack of staff, Vaspera ordered a request to be sent to specialized companies to recruit new servants for the palace.

Three months later, a woman named Ravena applied for a job as a maid at Vittorio's palace. She had a young daughter who was two years old.

When Ottavia tested Ravena's skills in housekeeping, she was not very good at most tasks. Ottavia was about to reject her, but then she saw Morfeo trying to talk to Ravena's little daughter. Seeing this, Ottavia decided to accept Ravena as a maid because she understood that Morfeo's aggressive behavior was due to his loneliness and spoiled upbringing, with no other children around to befriend. She hoped that the arrival of this little girl might change Morfeo's behavior for the better.

Morfeo tried to talk to the girl, but she was shy, so he took her by the hand and gave her a tour of the palace.

When the servants gathered to meet the new maid, they asked Ravena why she had come to work at the palace and what she used to do before. Ravena's cheerful expression turned sad as she began to tell them, "Before I came to the palace, I used to work in a nightclub, but one day, something happened to me that I will never forget for the rest of my life. Because of that incident, I was fired from my job as a bartender." When the servants asked her about the incident, she refused to talk and started crying. The servants felt bad for making her cry unintentionally.

After a while, when Ravena stopped crying, one of the servants asked her how she found out about the job opening, since Vaspera hadn't posted a local advertisement but had instead requested that specialized companies handle the recruitment and training of new servants for the palace. Ravena felt uneasy but answered, "After I was fired from my job at the nightclub, I ran out of money to pay the rent and was evicted with my newborn daughter. I had to return to this city to live with my sister and her husband in my deceased parents' house. A friend of mine, knowing that I was unemployed, brought me the job application and told me that this job would provide accommodation and a good salary. I accepted it because I started to feel like a burden to my sister and her husband—they never felt comfortable with me around." After hearing Ravena's story, all the servants felt pity for her and her daughter and promised to make Ravena happy throughout her time working with them.

An hour later, the servants saw Morfeo playing with the little girl. They asked Ravena what her daughter's name was, and she told them it was Lilith. When they asked her about her husband, she told them that he had gone far away. Then, looking at Morfeo, Ravena asked the servants about him. They told her that he was the family's son and the future heir of the Vittorio family. She was surprised and asked them, "Why are his eyes and hair red? He doesn't resemble his parents."

One of the servants replied, "From the moment Morfeo was born, when the nurses handed him to his father and we saw him, we were shocked by his strange appearance. We thought he might not be Vaspera's son, and rumors started spreading among us. One of the curious servants even dared to ask Vaspera directly why Morfeo looked different and whether he was really his son. We all thought that servant would be fired and his life ruined for saying something so inappropriate. But Vaspera responded calmly, saying, 'He is my son, and I am sure of it, but the reason for his different appearance is…'."

When the servants heard the reason for Morfeo's unusual appearance, they were stunned and saddened for him and regretted spreading those rumors. Ravena, too, was moved and saddened when she heard the reason and decided to care for Morfeo as if he were her own son.

After their conversation ended, Ottavia came in and ordered the servants to line up because the lady of the palace was coming.

As Tradita made her way to the servants' gathering place, she saw through the window a little girl playing with her son, Morfeo. She was surprised that Morfeo had made a friend at such a young age. When she reached the servants, she asked them about the girl, and they told her that she was the new maid's daughter.

Tradita asked to see the maid, so Ravena stepped forward, nervous about the lady's reaction. When she approached, Tradita asked her the girl's name, and Ravena replied, "Her name is Lilith." Ravena was worried for her daughter, but to her surprise, Tradita responded by saying, "From now on, Lilith will be like a daughter to me. And you are now part of the family. We are all friends in this palace, so if you need anything, do not hesitate to ask."

Ravena was stunned and started to cry with joy, realizing that she would now live a new life surrounded by kind people.
