KYMON'S POV
I stare into the multicolored lights, watching as the hormonal teenagers play in the lake, empty bottles of Goddess knows what scattered at their feet.
I don't peel my gaze off them until the motion of my car forces me to.
For a while, I've wondered how life would have been without all these responsibilities and attacks. As much as I don't care about the lives those reckless dogs are living, I can't help but think it's better than the one I have.
The car stops, and Lyriq steps out. He walks to the trunk, pulls out a dusty green duvet, then approaches a tree and crouches. It's sundown, so I can barely see clearly.
I hear something like water flowing as Lyriq lifts Henry's dead body, wrapped in the duvet, which insects have already begun to hover around. The ungodly stench reaches me, making my nose twitch. Lyriq grimaces and looks away.
Reaching into my pocket, I take out a cigarette and light it up. These days, it's the only thing that clears my head.
