This man had power over me. Thinking about that, I let out a deep sigh to try to keep my sanity, but at that moment I noticed someone looking at me lustfully. I raised my head slightly and noticed that Dylan had his gaze fixed on my face.
"Can you explain to me why that man won't stop staring at you?" Adam's voice reached my ears.
I turned my gaze to Adam and felt a surge of anger course through my chest. Just looking at him, memories of his betrayal flashed through my mind. With a groan, I looked straight ahead and focused on Dylan, who had taken a couple of steps and stopped right in front of me.
"It's a pleasure to have you here. I look forward to being a part of the new business and hope it will be a prosperous year..." Said one of the executives.
I heard the man's words, but all my attention was on Dylan, who raised his lips in a mischievous smile "Thank you for your words. But, as you know, not only am I the majority shareholder, but I will continue to be actively involved in this company"
"What do you mean by that?" asked another minority shareholder.
"From now on I am the CEO of the Delaware Group, and all its subsidiaries" Dylan added, making everyone's eyes widen in complete surprise.
They all began to murmur with each other. The reality was that Adam had been holding the position of CEO of the company for years.
At that, I looked at him and noticed that he was clenching his fists on the table. However, before anyone else could say anything, Dylan's voice was heard again.
"I know it's a little difficult to accept a stranger as your CEO. But this company needs everything to get back to the top spot. So I'll keep an eye on every move. Maybe in the future things will change" Dylan added.
"What do you mean?" Adam asked in a cold tone.
"If in a certain period of time the company moves up five positions, I will retire and leave my position to someone with good skills"
The men continued talking for a couple of hours more, until they finally reached an agreement.
All the shareholders got up from the table and left little by little.
Dylan, on the other hand, was still sitting at the table tapping his fingers against it. At that moment, I got up from the table and started walking towards the door, but just as I was about to leave the boardroom, Dylan's voice boomed from behind me.
"Sofia, I need to talk to you"
When I heard it, I froze. My heart began to beat very fast as I slowly turned my body towards the seated man.
He looked like a god sitting with his hands resting on the backrest and a slight triumphant smile on his face.
"Tell me, sir?" I hinted politely.
He didn't even look at me, but kept his attention on the documents scattered on the table.
"You can call me Dylan, after all we already know each other very well, don't you think?" he said with a mocking grimace.
With his comment, my stomach turned all over. Shit, it was definite, this man recognized me as soon as he saw me.
However, I couldn't lower myself, so I shook my head "I... I think you're wrong. I don't know what you mean. I think the trust you gained quickly has been that of the shareholders" I said, trying to feign dementia.
At my response, Dylan looked away from the documents and up at me" As far as I remember, I didn't spend the hot night with any of them" he said without wasting any time.
I swallowed saliva and shook my head, trying to stick to my decision "Mr. Dylan, I don't know what you mean. And I'd appreciate it if you'd stop making those comments.
After saying that, I let out a smile and turned to leave, but I heard his mocking voice.
"You mean you're not the girl I fucked after a couple of drinks and left a note for at the hotel?" he said with a grimace.
Shit, I remembered the bills the man had left me in that little envelope. He treated me like I was a slut!
"What? I'm sure I could remember that if it actually happened.
My answer seemed to annoy him, and the man let out a groan of annoyance "You know what I'm thinking now?" He hinted, pausing.
I looked at him with a raised eyebrow and crossed my arms over my chest as I heard him speak "I think that meeting like this was no coincidence. We were just two adults wanting to have fun. But now, since I'm your boss, I think you'll want to take advantage of that.
But what the hell, did this man really say that?
"Ah, yes? and you know what I think about you?" I said, clenching my fists, annoyed "I think you have a hard time accepting that you're wrong about this. But it doesn't matter, you're not the first man to try to bother me in this company" I said as I opened the office door.
"Did I say you could leave?" Dylan said with a cold tone.
With a snort, I forced my smile and looked at him slowly.
"You, Sofia, are in charge of leading the team for project 40. You can use whatever resources you want" he hinted, lowering his gaze to his documents.
I froze without understanding what he wanted "Project 40 is the most important project of the year and he will give it to me?"
"Yes, I understand that you were in charge of the previous project, right? You have potential, use it" He said with simple and precise words.
For a second I doubted my capabilities. He was giving me the project that maintains the company's reputation.
But why? I am just a stranger to him.
"But... but... Is this to expect a mistake on my part? Is this some kind of a trap?" I asked confused.
"Is it such a surprise that the daughter of the company founder gets a good project?"
