The water swallowed me whole.
The warmth was gone.
Everything was gone.
Darkness stretched endlessly around me, suffocating, consuming. My limbs felt weightless, my body sinking deeper into the void. My mind screamed at me to move, to fight, but I couldn't.
No air.
No escape.
Am I dying? No!
I still needed to apologize to Kaelith.
Panic clawed at my chest, my heartbeat echoing in my ears. The more I struggled, the deeper I fell. Cold tendrils wrapped around me, pulling me further into the abyss.
Then—
A sound.
Soft. Distant. Familiar.
Meow.
What? Meow???
A shiver ran down my spine. I tried to move, to see where the sound had come from, but my vision was nothing but pitch-black emptiness.
Another meow echoed through the void, clearer this time.
And then—suddenly—a blur of orange.
It was faint, barely visible, like a flickering ember in the darkness. It moved, shifting, as if pacing back and forth.
A cat?
An orange cat?
My chest tightened. No fucking way.
