Chapter 1 - The Familiar Face of The Worst Traitor

[YUZUKI]

"No… he couldn't do this," Alpha Yuzuki said as she stared at the shadow that was headed her way. Her pack had been ambushed and she was fighting to save her people and her family.

It was protocol for such cases and with her position, Yuzuki had always made it a tradition to get off the battlefield last – after all her people had been accounted for or had gone home.

Today was different, only that today as she looked at the carriage headed her way, at the white horse that was covered in the royal banner, Yuzuki refused to believe what was in front of her.

It was not making any sense, so she got up, ready to fight and prove to herself that betrayal couldn't be to this extent.

"Is that… King Kazuya?" one of her warriors asked as they looked at the king. Instinctively, her warriors let out sighs of relief at the fact that the King had come to provide reinforcements.

With the king, they would be able to deal with whoever had come after them. They wouldn't have to worry about never going home, because King Kazuya was powerful and he knew what war looked like.

He was a man who never let people trample over his people and perhaps for a fleeting moment, Alpha Yuzuki dared to hope.

"Go on. Keep fighting off the vigilantes. Even with the king, we need to prove that we can fight too," Alpha Yuzuki said reassuringly to her warriors even though her instincts were begging her not to.

She had a feeling that this wasn't just reinforcements from the king. This was a man who had come to the battlefield to see to it that the least of these was done with. Yuzuki hated that possibility and so he looked around for her family and her mate.

She had to secure them, even if it was the last thing she did. But as she looked around, Alpha Yuzuki was met with a harrowing emptiness. She could have sworn that she had just blinked, but even then, was gone — quite literally.

"No… this is not possible," Yuzuki said sadly, her denial obvious as she took in the dead around her. Even the warrior she had just given the wonder was down in his own blood, lifeless like that was where he belonged.

"Alpha Yuzuki Fukada… we finally meet," King Kazuya said sarcastically as he made his way towards the woman in question. He looked proud of what he had done and he looked like he could do this over and over.

"Why?" Yuzuki dared to ask, even though a part of her knew that she was never leaving this battlefield. The least she could do before she let go, was to know what the fuck had inspired the King into this kind of treachery.

This was treason, and yet it was the alder who was vomiting it. What the fuck was Yuzuki supposed to say to that?

"Oh, come on, Alpha Fukada. You know why," King Kazuya said with a dark smile on his face. There was a smirk as he stared at Yuzuki's shocked face.

He could see the way the woman was trying to piece up whatever had led to this, but they both knew that Yuzuki would never be bae to guess anything on her own. She hadn't done anything to offend the crown.

She had been a good Alpha and each year they had submitted the produce at the festivals like the accords demanded.

They were literally what model citizens were and yet the mad King was here, with his word covered in the blood of Yuzuki's kin and her people. It hurt a lot and Yuzuki felt like she could kill the king.

"Enl… enlighten me please, your majesty. If you are going to kill me, shouldn't you at least tell me why you flattened the Fukada pack? Why did you choose to kill all of my people?" Yuzuki asked respectfully.

Deep down, all she wanted was to shove her sword down the king's throat and make him suffer for what he had done to her people. This was unforgivable and Yuzuki would make sure to remember that.

If the King ever let her go, then she would dedicate her life to bringing him down, and if the King killed her, the Yuzuki would be a good soul in the afterlife so the moon goddess would let her reincarnate. That was all she could think of at the moment anyway.

"Are you sure you don't know?" King Kazuya teased.

Yuzuki sighed.

She could see the royal warriors poking through the dead masses with their words like they were looking for every last soul to take out in Fukada.

This was not fair and Yuzuki hated that there were innocent mothers and children laid around just because the man who was supposed to be their overall protector had decided that today was the end of his protection.

It was something that baffled Yuzuki and she hated the King for this.

She despised him for ruining the lives of people who had done shit to the crown.

"If I did, I wouldn't be asking you, now? Or would I, Kazuya?" Yuzuki said, dropping all the formalities with the man. She had no respect for him, and she was making sure he was aware of that.

She couldn't stomach the fact that this bastard had taken out her loved ones. Yuzuki could hear the undead wolves plead for mercy at the hands of the royal soldiers and they didn't even get it.

Instead, the king's warriors just struck them with three words until they were lifeless. It was the worst thing that could have happened to Yuzuki. She never thought that something like this could happen, and yet it did.

She was being betrayed.

Her people were being betrayed.

Oh, they had been screwed over by the King and there was no denying that.

"Kazuya? You little shit… I am your king," King Kazuya said.

Yuzuki chuckled sadly, she couldn't believe the bastard standing right before her. It was as if he was so out of touch with reality that he needed to be taught a lesson, so instinctively, Yuzuki slapped the King hard like that was supposed to wake him up.

It was a terrible idea but it was way better than Yuzuki having to do what the man acted like he wasn't hurting the same people who had put their trust in him. Maybe Yuzuki Fukada had finally lost her mind, right?

"A coward is what you are. You didn't have a good enough reason to come and eliminate my pack. You did it for sport, you ungrateful little wench," Yuzuki said angrily as she swung her sword at the king, making sure to scar his face.

And it was then that Yuzuki knew why everyone was scared of the mad king.

Perhaps she had been wanting him to kill her now that the entire field was only filled with the heartbeats of the royal guards. The poor Alpha had lost everything and the King wasn't even done with her.

"You're pathetic until the very end, Kazuya. What a shame," Yuzuki added with a strained laugh.

She knew her end was here, and she had to tell the man what his truth was. It hurt that this was the man the kingdom had been trusted with but Yuzuki knew that there was never going to be a way to unseat King Kazuya from his damned throne.

He was a man feared by all the possible Alphas who could vote against him. Those who had been insistent on standing against him had eventually been replaced by other Alphas who worshipped the fucking ground that King Kazuya walked on.

Perhaps that was what was giving him the courage, wasn't it?

"You will respect me!" King Kazuya said before he thrust his sword into Yuzuki's belly, twisting it rightly, making Yuzuki spout blood from her mouth. She didn't seem so checked by it and her eyes were still defiant as she stared at the King daringly.

She didn't have anything left to lose, and Yuzuki would make sure to let the King know that he would never be able to break her.

"You really think you have it all under control, huh?" King Kazuya asked as he pulled his sword from Yuzuki's bleeding belly. He had ruined her chances at a life and he was aware of it.

He didn't seem to mind screwing her over more times than possible because everyone was gone. The warriors wouldn't defy their King and this was all for him – the man who had made a life out of tormenting everyone who went against him.

And yet, even then, King Kazuya wasn't done with Alpha Yuzuki.

"Bring her!" King Kazuya commanded and Yuzuki stared at the madman, wondering what he was talking about. However, when she caught sight of who the King was talking about, Alpha Yuzuki felt all the breaths leave her.

"Not her!!"
