Chapter 7 - Dinner at the Burrow

Dinner at the Burrow

When he went through the Transmutation books, they caught his attention since the only transmutation spell he knew was the one that turned materials into gold and nothing more. But the book he was reading was about giving life to objects or transforming them into living animals.

"This is interesting," he said as he continued reading.

He spent the entire week reading all the Hogwarts class books.

Some spells were a bit difficult for him, but he already remembered most of them and could use them. Obviously, not as skillfully as a wizard from this world who used them all the time, but he could use them quite well. And in any case, he had his own magic, so it was only to learn and not come off as a bumpkin.

"What was the neighbor's name?" said a voice behind his door.

"I think it was Igor..." said the other similar voice.

"No, you fool. I think it was Limar."

"It's Einar," Einar said, opening the door to find the red-haired twins from last week.

"Right! Einar."

"Hello," they both greeted cheerfully.

"So, what do you need?" Einar asked as he stared at them.

"Our dad said to invite you to dinner.

"As an apology, you know...

"Because Ron acted like a troll," they said, finishing each other's sentences.

"Dinner? Hmm, sure, I don't have anything else to do anyway," Einar said as he walked out with them calmly.

"Great, let's go!" they said as they walked alongside Einar.

"Hey, that thing about you defeating the teachers, was it true?

"It's not that we don't believe you, it just sounds hard," they both said, trying to make conversation.

"Yes. When I appeared in a forest near the school, I thought they were enemies. So, I sent Hagrid flying with a shout, and then I almost cut that guy... Snake, is it? Well, I almost cut him in half. Then, my sword flew off, so I just paralyzed him, and he was left lying on the ground. I quickly disarmed the others who couldn't do anything, but then, when I was about to get serious, Dumbledore tried to mediate with words," Einar explained quickly.

"You almost cut Snape in half?!" they both said, looking at each other with excitement.

"And you disarmed all the teachers!

"That's amazing!" they said again. They seemed quite hyperactive.

"But why a sword? Wouldn't a spell be easier?" one of them quickly asked.

"Obviously, my sword is enchanted. It's quite powerful. I have a large collection of them. The one I had at that moment set the person it cut on fire, even if it was just a small cut on the finger," Einar explained.

"I've never heard of that enchantment."

"Me neither."

"It sounds powerful."

"And interesting," they said.

Einar had read about the alchemy of this world, and most of it was meant to make daily life easier for people and some other things, not so much for battle like enchanting weapons or armor.

"I learned a lot of weapon enchantments as I grew up. My mother used to enchant weapons and armor, while my father was a blacksmith. Thanks to that, we were quite wealthy," Einar said, recalling his childhood with nostalgia.

The twins understood his nostalgia as if he had lost his parents a long time ago.

"We're sorry," they said, feeling bad for making him remember something sad.

"Oh, they didn't die. When I turned 13, they sent me to join the militia because they wanted to reproduce and expand the family name," Einar said with a smile.

The twins looked at him and started laughing.

"Then they might get along well with our parents. We're six siblings," they said as they neared the house.

"But unlike you, we're not lucky enough to have that much money," said the other while pointing at their crooked house.

"That's fine. The bastard of a father I had didn't give me a single coin when he sent me to the militia. I had to gather every septim myself by exploring ancient ruins, tombs, and joining various guilds," Einar said as they reached the door of the house.

The door opened quickly, and Molly came out wearing a kitchen apron.

"You're finally here. Dinner's almost ready, so you better sit down," Molly said as she welcomed Einar with a smile.

After that day, a week ago, they told Dumbledore about the storm Einar had summoned, and he apologized, admitting it was his fault. He told them Einar was sending him a message and that they no longer needed to keep an eye on him for him. They were free to get along with Einar as they wished.

Dumbledore realized he would have to be careful not to cross Einar's limits in the future.

Meanwhile, the Weasley couple didn't see Einar as a bad boy, especially since he was younger than Percy and already living on his own. So, they wanted to get along with him.

As they sat at the table, the twins kept talking to him.

"By the way, the mask is different, right?" one of them asked.

"Yes. This is the Morokei mask; it regenerates magic twice as fast. I was using it to practice some magic," Einar explained patiently.

"Twice as fast? Really? We've never heard of anything like that," they said with surprise. "And the previous one?"

"The previous one is called the Otar mask. It gives me resistance to fire, cold, and electricity. It also allows me to use Shouts more smoothly, so I can launch them one after another without feeling throat pain," Einar said with a smile.

Something that always caught everyone's attention, aside from the power of the masks, was that even with them on, they could perceive Einar's expressions, something strange but showing how special they were.

"Awesome!" the twins said again, having repeated it many times today.

Obviously, Einar noticed they wanted to borrow the masks but were too shy to ask, afraid he might take it as an insult.

Seeing this, Einar reached into the special bag inside his coat and pulled out two masks.

"This is the Rahgot mask; it gives you more strength and stamina. And this one is the Vulsung mask; it gives less strength than the previous one but also allows you to breathe underwater. I'll lend them to you to try them out," Einar said calmly, leaving both masks on the table.

The twins looked at each other and, without a second thought, each grabbed one and put them on.

As soon as the masks touched their faces, they immediately felt the difference.

Fred quickly tested his strength and ran to the sofa, lifting it with one hand.

Meanwhile, George ran to the kitchen and then returned with a bucket of water, quickly dunking his head in it.

Meanwhile, Molly rushed in, following him.

"George, give me that bucket of water. I need it later to wash the dishes," Molly said angrily.

"I'm Fred… And you call yourself our mother, woman," he said as he pulled his head out of the water, water dripping from his hair and wetting the entire floor.

"Well, sorry, Fred. Now give me that bucket. And don't play with those things; they look expensive," Molly said quickly.

"It's okay, Einar told us to try them out. By the way, I was kidding, I'm actually George," he said with his hair still wet, so Molly took out her wand to dry him while shaking her head.

"Call your brothers for dinner," she said quickly as she went back to the kitchen to fetch the big pot of food.

After a while, Ginny and Ron came downstairs to see three masked figures sitting at the table patiently.

This made Ron quickly get scared since he was somewhat afraid of Einar.

Meanwhile, Ginny didn't mind and sat with the others.

Arthur also arrived and joined the table, cheerfully greeting Einar.

"I'm glad you joined us, Einar. By the way, Dumbledore told me to give you this when I saw you. Of course, I didn't read what it says," Arthur said as he handed him an envelope.

Obviously, it contained Dumbledore's apologies, stating that he realized he had crossed Einar's limits. He also mentioned that he didn't blame the Weasleys and that they would no longer follow his request to keep an eye on him. They could treat him like a normal neighbor.

Einar gave it a quick glance and put it away.

Then, Molly arrived with a large pot of food and quickly served rabbit stew to everyone.

Just as she was about to tell them to take off their masks, she saw Einar bringing the spoon to his mouth with the mask still on, and the food from it disappeared as if the mask absorbed it.

The twins, seeing that, quickly repeated the same thing.

"WOW! This mask is so cool," they said as they continued eating without needing to remove the masks.

Arthur simply gestured to leave them be; after all, they weren't bothering anyone. Especially since Einar seemed to wear it out of necessity.

"Einar, is it okay if we ask why you have to wear the mask? We still don't quite understand, sorry," Arthur asked quickly.

"Well, to be honest, I was born with a special power, which is my voice. With an ancient language, I can use various powerful and destructive abilities like the storm from that day.

The problem is that the stronger I become, the stronger my voice also becomes. So, the masks are enchanted to prevent that," Einar explained patiently.

"That's fascinating," Arthur said with interest.

"Of course, I don't even come close to my masters. They had to take a vow of silence because just murmuring would make mountains tremble," Einar said with a smile. "Actually, when they called me to train, the shout of one of them was heard across an entire continent," Einar said while everyone looked shocked.

Then, Arthur and Molly understood why Dumbledore wanted them to keep an eye on him. Fortunately, he later regretted it...
