Chapter 13 - Chapter 13: I Need a Rest

Everyone nodded, realizing that there was nothing more for them to do here.

Lon exhaled quietly, understanding that everything had ended better than he had expected.

«Thankfully, the Seon Guard arrived in time to resolve everything. Now, our only task is to stay in the hospital — not that I was planning to leave anyway...»

He had no reason to leave the hospital since he was still sick. Although he could now walk and move around normally, doing so excessively was a bad idea.

Today's events had proven that. Felix Hospital wasn't very large, more of a mid-sized facility, yet even so, Lon had to push himself to his limits just to reach the first floor.

This was yet another sign that he hadn't fully recovered and that he would have to spend some more time in the hospital.

Sali was the first to head for the exit, her steps quick but not anxious. She kept herself under control. Vosen and John followed her.

Lon lingered for a moment, casting one last glance at the bodies of the technicians. He hadn't known them personally, but their deaths were no accident.

«Whoever orchestrated this was very good.» — Lon acknowledged the unknown culprit's skill.

But his gaze suddenly turned cold, reflecting his contempt for this person.

«I doubt he'll get far. Most likely, he'll be caught, just like countless other criminals...» — he scoffed and turned to the others.

— Mr. Renvel, let's go! — Sali called out to him.

He quickly caught up to her, and soon they were back inside the main hospital building.

The hallways were unusually quiet, and the once-lively atmosphere had turned grim.

Normally, muffled conversations, the groans of patients, and the hurried footsteps of nurses filled the air. Now, the atmosphere was heavy with tension.

— It's strangely quiet here... — Sali remarked.

— That makes sense… It looks like some people were evacuated due to the possible explosion. That's probably why the first floor is so empty... — Vosen added, smoothing his mustache.

— In any case, the situation is looking good now, and soon everything will return to normal, — Lon said with a smile.

— That's right. Our main task now is just to stay in the hospital. If everything goes smoothly, nothing will happen to us, — John added, glancing down the corridor.

— Still... — Sali looked at everyone with a worried expression. — It's a little scary to realize that there's a potential killer in the hospital...

Everyone nodded, showing that they shared her unease.

Lon sighed and said:

— There's nothing we can do about it anyway. Besides, the situation is under the government's control now, so there's no need to be too afraid.

— You're right, — Sali smiled, then immediately asked, — Are you ready to continue the tour… or not?

Lon gave a crooked smile and rubbed his temples before replying:

— Unfortunately, no. I'm sorry, Miss Sali, but I'm really exhausted today, and I'd like to rest in my room. Maybe some other time. — He smiled and looked at the two doctors.

— And thank you for helping me. Without you, I don't think we would have been able to prevent the explosion...

John and Vosen smiled and replied:

— Thank you too, Mr. Renvel, for your help.

— That throw of yours was magnificent!

After thanking them once more, Lon quickly turned away and headed upstairs.

He hadn't left just to be alone — he had a habit of spending some time by himself to think things over.

This was a habit he had developed back in middle school to clear his mind. Those were stressful times, but this little ritual had helped him more than anything else in the world.

That was why he had turned down Sali's offer — he simply needed some time to rest, that was all.

Sighing, Lon somehow made his way to the second floor and strolled through the corridor.

He glanced at a window fogged up with steam and saw a breathtaking view of the green district.

The district was alive with activity — steam rose from various buildings, and airships and flying vessels soared across the sky.

The sun, at its peak, shone over the entire city like a giant lantern, while the blue sky stretched endlessly, like a vast, protective blanket covering everything.

«What a beautiful view...» — Lon smiled and slowly stepped into his room.
