Chapter 23 - Chapter 23: Appearance

Two weeks had passed since Lon had transferred into Renvel's body. During this time, he had managed to recover enough, and his condition had significantly improved compared to a week ago.

In recent days, he was frequently visited by his family and the two doctors. They told him the latest news and simply chatted with him to improve his mental state. Sali, however, had stopped visiting him for reasons unknown — but that was even for the better, as he didn't know what to expect from a possible killer.

During this time, he gradually adjusted and continued to study this world, learning more and more fantastic things about it. So, the chance of being exposed was minimal.

And now the day had come when he was to be discharged from the hospital and sent home!

He had been waiting for this with great anticipation!

In his room, Lon stood at full height and looked at himself in the mirror, examining the clothes that his father, Donald, had brought him a few days ago.

He was wearing a formal black suit, with a matching overcoat on top. His legs were covered with neatly ironed black trousers, and on his feet were dress shoes. In his hand, he held the very cane he had been gifted a week ago.

Looking at his reflection, Lon couldn't help but gasp.

That was really him!

The gentleman in the mirror was truly him!

Although Renvel's face wasn't particularly handsome, the strict combination of clothing that Lon was now wearing gave him the look of someone from high society.

A stern look… tall stature… unified style… Everything matched, creating an image that could make hundreds of girls fall in love.

Originally, this was Renvel's outfit, which he had worn to work — two weeks ago. After the explosion, he had been immediately taken to the hospital, and the clothes were given to his family. Now, he could finally wear them again.

To Lon's surprise, the clothes he was wearing were considered "above average" among the middle class. In other words, they were excellent, but still far from aristocratic quality. This showed that the Habott family wasn't particularly poor among the middle class.

«I look like a real gentleman now. Strange that, looking like this, Renvel still doesn't have a girlfriend or a wife… Although there could be valid reasons for that, so I shouldn't judge by my modern understanding. This is a completely different world with different people. We may share a few similarities, but that's no reason to impose my perception on this world.» — Lon shook his head and looked out the window.

«It's still morning… I've got plenty of time to explore the Green District. After all, Mister Gredarik said I could rest for three more days after being discharged from the hospital.»

A smile formed on Lon's face as he realized he'd finally get to study the world not from Renvel's memories.

Experiencing something on your own is always better than hearing about it or recalling it from someone else's past.

He took a tall cylinder from the table and placed it on his head. His chestnut hair fluttered slightly, and his eyes lit up.

«Finally… Finally, I will see this world…» — Lon's heart beat faster, and his blue eyes grew brighter.

He walked to the door, stepped outside, and headed to the first floor.

Slowly walking through the hospital corridors, Lon watched Seon through the windows — the scenes were the same. Steam rising, airships flying, people walking the streets going about their work. Everything functioned like a single mechanism running smoothly.

Reaching the stairs, Lon descended and arrived on the first floor.

He immediately noticed various people: doctors helping patients, patients simply walking around or talking to each other, and nurses assisting everyone.

Lon walked through the corridors, smiling at those who looked his way. For him, it wasn't a difficult task, but for them, it could at least bring a smile.

Finally reaching the main lobby, he saw benches with people sitting on them and doctors standing and chatting. Unfortunately, among them, there were no familiar faces — neither John nor Vоsen.

He simply wanted to say goodbye to them.

Sighing, Lon slowly headed for the main entrance.

Standing in front of the doors, he gently pushed them open and stepped outside.

He immediately felt the warmth of the sun on his skin, and a light breeze blew through his hair.

He looked up at the sky and smiled, thinking:

«My adventures in this world are only just beginning!»
