Chapter 15 - Chapter 5

Valeria began packing her few belongings, feeling a mix of nervousness and determination as she included the sword that Jesus had given her. The atmosphere in her room was silent, only the faint murmur of the city sneaking in through the window, while the soft morning light illuminated her face. With a sigh, she closed the backpack and headed for the door. Outside, the cool morning air brushed against her face as she walked with firm steps toward the bus stop next to the Magdalena church. The bustle of the city was starting to wake up; cars zoomed past quickly, and the distant sound of conversations blended with the traffic. As she boarded bus P, she paid 1.50 soles and sat down, feeling how the anxiety grew inside her as the vehicle started, making a deep, echoing noise in the streets.

The bus moved down Universitaria Avenue, a space full of tall buildings that reflected the rising sun. Students headed to their classes, some walking hurriedly, others patiently waiting for the transportation. When Valeria got off, the cold morning air cut her face, and the noise of the avenue surrounded her. With a racing heart, she began searching for Ruwi's house. After a few minutes, she finally found it, a house with walls of white that had started to fade over time. The small garden was somewhat disordered, but the scent of flowers that came from it seemed to offer a sense of calm.

She rang the doorbell, and the door opened immediately. Camila, Ruwi's girlfriend, appeared at the threshold, her expression showing clear surprise. The house's walls, though simple, had a cozy air, with pictures on the walls and warm light coming from the windows despite the coldness outside.

—Hello again! —Valeria said, trying to smile, though her nervousness betrayed her.

Ruwi appeared behind Camila, and when he saw her, Valeria felt a momentary relief. His face lit up when he saw her.

—Valeria! What a joy to see you! This is a place where you can find peace —Ruwi responded, his voice deep and warm, contrasting with the tension of the moment.

The atmosphere in the room changed when Daniel and Rosenda looked at her with distrust. The air in the room grew dense, and the atmosphere became uncomfortable. Pablo Lorenzo, sitting near a window, watched without reacting. The curtains moved slightly with the breeze, but the peace of the house seemed not to reach him.

—What is she doing here? —Daniel whispered with disdain.

—I don't know, honey, but it looks like Ruwi is happy —Rosenda replied, her distrustful gaze fixed on Valeria.

Hearing the whispers, Valeria lowered her head, feeling the weight of the discomfort in the air. The white walls of the house, usually a symbol of tranquility, now seemed oppressive, surrounding her with their critical stares. Ruwi furrowed his brow, sensing the tension.

—What are you two whispering about? —he asked, his voice now filled with authority, as if a slight tremor ran through the wood of the floor from the change in tone.

With a sigh, Ruwi took Valeria's hand, and they sat in a corner, where the soft light of a lamp illuminated the small space. Around them, the air felt lighter. They began sharing stories of pain and struggle.

—When I was 10 years old, my mother passed away, and I had to sell my body to survive. Since then, I've lived through humiliations —Valeria confessed, tears slowly falling down her cheeks as the light from the lamp flickered, casting shadows on the walls.

Ruwi listened attentively, his expression softening.

—That's heartbreaking. My father, José, was human, but he succumbed to the darkness and became a demon called Ishnofel... —Ruwi began, his voice whispering but filled with deep sadness. The echoes of his story seemed to fill the room, as if the walls themselves kept his pain.

In a moment of connection, Valeria took out the sword, which had been hidden under her coat. The light from the lamp reflected a flash on its blade, and the air around it became denser, more solemn.

—So, you're the new chosen one of Jesus? That's incredible! —Ruwi said, with renewed energy that seemed to fill the room.

Without wasting any time, Ruwi stood up and called the group. As he announced enthusiastically that Valeria was his new ally, the atmosphere was filled with a mix of awe and hope. It was then that a brilliant light appeared in the corner of the room, dazzling and warm, bathing the house with a celestial softness.

Jesus appeared from the shadows, his serene smile lighting up the room. His divine presence filled the space with a profound peace, as if the air itself had been purified. The others knelt, but Valeria still stood, unable to believe what was happening, her mind trying to grasp the reality of the situation.

Jesus slowly approached Valeria, opening his arms in a gesture of embrace. When Valeria received him, her tears began to fall softly, streaming down her cheeks as the warmth of Jesus's light enveloped her.

—I don't need perfect people, Valeria, just those who truly repent. Do you remember that day, on the roof of your house, looking at the sky and saying: Take me out of this pain; look at me, please; I'm just a prostitute? I tell you, truly, that I never turned my face away from you —Jesus said, his voice resonating with a warmth that seemed to calm every corner of the room.

While this was happening, Camila, in a quiet corner of the house, watched the scene with a melancholic smile on her face. In her heart, she hid a secret pain, an illness that was draining her strength, and that, despite her calm exterior, was leading her to the end of her life. With the air still soft and fresh coming through the window, Camila walked toward her room. The soft light of the sunset began to fall on her as she lay on the bed, where she always slept beside Ruwi. At that precise moment, the angel Gabriel appeared before her, with a serene smile and soft light that seemed to surround her. Camila took his hand, knowing that her time had come. Her soul ascended, leaving her body resting in peace, with a smile on her lips.
