"Sandy Utah, ma'am. Are you new to this city?" The barista asked.
"Yes, kind of," the smile she had on her face to the barista was fake but it was needed.
Turning to get a seat, Adalyn thought about why Logan brought her here and left her all alone for two weeks without any heads up or update.
This time she wasn't fighting her thoughts. She was now sincerely worried about Logan Hudson. At first, she didn't care but when she thought about how he helped her in recovering from the damages the people she loved gave her, she felt the need to do something for him.
She didn't know his motive yet but so far, he hadn't done any mean thing to her except for when she found herself kissing him. She still didn't know how that happened but she blamed Logan for it
Adalyn was lost in thoughts when her order arrived. She acknowledged the waiter by smiling and went ahead to take a sip of the coffee.
"Where are you, Logan?"
…
Adalyn woke up after a long nap. She remembered going to the nail salon to get her nails done. This made her look at the beautiful art she had on her fingers. Seeing this, she smiled.
She recalled making a few friends at the salon and how she interacted with them so well that they all exchanged numbers, planning to hangout some other day.
Adalyn remembered how happy and stressful she felt when she returned so she entered her room and fell asleep immediately.
She looked at the clock on the wall above and learned that the time was a few minutes after nine. She needed to make dinner but firstly she was going to freshen up.
While Adalyn was lost in the shower, she heard noises and turned the shower off to make sure she wasn't hearing wrong. Hearing nothing for two minutes, she accepted that it was a false alarm.
She finished up in the bathroom and wore something light-a pink short silk nightgown.
With that, she dried her hair and tied it into a messy bun and headed to the kitchen.
Upon descending the stairs completely, she saw a shadow and how swift it was going to the other side of the living room that led to another room and the basement.
She entered the kitchen and realized that someone was in the kitchen. There were drops of milk and cereals on the floor so she looked in the direction the shadow went through.
Adalyn looked around the kitchen for something she could use to defend herself. She grabbed a knife and realized that it wouldn't do much so she took a fry pan.
"I don't think this will work," she said to herself. "It worked for Rapunzel." With that, she braced herself and walked through the living room, landing on the other side, which was across from the kitchen.
As Adalyn got closer to where she last saw the shadow, her heart began to beat fast, causing her head to throb. "I know you are there…" she stupidly announced her presence.
However, she heard nothing as she went closer but in a few seconds, she heard growls and groans. Walking even closer with her hands stretched out with the fry pan, she heard the crying voice and located where the voice was coming from.
'Could a deer be stuck in my house?' she wondered. 'Or a wolf?'
Curious, she drew closer to the room it was coming from and peeked in the room.
She gasped and subconsciously dropped the fry pan. "Logan?" She called him from outside the room, shaking because of what she saw.
His bed was soaked with his blood, which continued to flashed in her head. His body was full of scratches-deep scratches.
"Go away, Adalyn. You shouldn't see me in this condition," he was stammering and choking.
Adalyn subconsciously turned around to leave, thinking about what she saw. It looked like scratches from wild animals. She was scared but her conscience couldn't make her leave Logan suffering in pain..
She went back and entered his room, walking to him as if she was that brave. Adalyn burst into tears because she couldn't bear to see him in such excruciating pain.
"What happened to you? Where have you been?" With tears streaming down her face, she asked.
"Adalyn…" he groaned.
"Why are there so many scratches and injuries? How can you even survive this?!"
"I'm a monster, remember?" He chuckled.
His chuckles calmed her a little so she grabbed a chair and sat close to him. Her eyes sharply looked at the injury and she courageously touched his skin. "It's so deep," she looked at his face and saw how good he was at enduring.
She pressed his skin to test how much he could endure. He groaned loudly, opening his teeth.
"Fangs?" She was surprised that she wasn't shocked to see that he had fangs.
"I told you to leave," he uttered, breathing heavily.
"You have fangs, Logan?" She came closer to his face and opened his mouth. She touched his fang and immediately pulled her hand back, giggling as if it tickled her.
"You are really a monster," she sneered this time.
"I never lied, baby," he still had the energy to smile at her.
She suddenly became serious and looked into his blue eyes. "What do we do about all this?"
His arms, chest, cheeks, legs and abdomen were all deeply injured.
"I'll heal on my own. It's taking this long because I was poisoned," he said in a hoarse voice.
"You heal supernaturally?" Adalyn was astonished but then she processed the part where he said he was poisoned. "Poisoned, like you are dying soon?" She appeared unhappy.
"No…I can't leave my wife…"
"What? I didn't hear that?" Adalyn was reacting to his statement because she knew he knew that he left her and had the gut to say he couldn't leave her.
"I went for business. I told you that I didn't know when I'll return."
"And you come back like this?" She looked very confused. "What business?"
"Not now, Adalyn," he couldn't talk about it.
"You don't want me to know?" She figured.
"You will eventually find out but…" he coughed out blood.
Adalyn gasped, covering her mouth with her hands in shock. "Logan…" her voice was shaky.
"...now isn't the time. Stay clueless for now," Logan finished his statement. "Please help me clean this," he was referring to the blood around his mouth.
"Shouldn't we go to a doctor?" Adalyn was worried.
"I cannot die, Adalyn but I like the way you care. I guess I should always come home weak and sick with bruises," he chuckled again and this time his fangs had disappeared.
Adalyn was quiet, looking at him and wondering what his life was about and what people saw to call him a monster.
While Adalyn was busy thinking about him, Logan was lost in thoughts about how sexy she was at the moment. He looked at her smooth beautiful thighs with his head full of images of his hands touching her. He dragged his gaze to her breasts and noticed her thickened nipples. He had actually seen that earlier when she entered the room. Her boobs were large and he liked it.
His sleepy eyes kept going around her body even though he was full of pain. He imagined kissing her neck. However, eve. without imagining, there was something about her small body that made his whole body excited. She was capable of turning him on and he had just confirmed that.
How could he be active just by looking at her body when he was in so much pain?
Adalyn caught him looking at her and looked at herself to realize that he was pervertedly eyeing her body. "How could you?!" She covered her chest but her action made him burst into laughter but in a tired way. "You pervert!"
