After taking her bath and preparing for the day in her room, Adalyn felt famished as she hadn't eaten much for the past three days. She remembered that Logan Hudson mentioned in his letter that he cooked something for her.
With that, she went out of her room to find her way around since the man who brought her into the house was so dense that he couldn't think of giving her a tour before disappearing.
'You are still annoyed that he left…' a voice said in her head.
Adalyn discarded it and went around. She realized that her room and two other rooms were on the second floor of the building.
It wasn't a big Mansion like her parent's or John's house. The house was built in a simple way. Through the second floor, one could make it to the attic.
Adalyn, who was very hungry, didn't mind going through the two other rooms on that floor. She realized that one was for guests and the other one was for storage.
She saw a lot of items in the storage room and thought of what she could use them for. She was a very creative person and would always want to make something out of something.
When her stomach grumbled again, she remembered that she was hungry and decided to check the attic later.
Adalyn went down the stairs to see that the kitchen was just beside the living room. However, looking at how the living room and every other place in the house looked, she wasn't wrong when she assumed how he'd like his mornings and what he might prefer.
He was the total opposite of her and she confirmed that when she saw the food he cooked for her.
She definitely wouldn't like English muffins sandwiches as breakfast but if there was something Adalyn didn't like doing then, that would be cooking.
Feeling reluctant to cook something she would like-pancakes, she just microwaved the muffins and sat at the dining table to eat what she could eat.
She filled her glass cup with the orange juice she found in his luxuriously full refrigerator and drank that first. Her stomach felt alive upon drinking the chill orange juice.
'I should get used to this kind of life, forget John, my parents, everyone in California and everyone who made me a monster,' Adalyn said within herself as she took a bite of the muffin sandwich she was sure she wouldn't like.
To her surprise, she was wrong. It tasted so good that she could stand up and dance. Her dull face lightened up after tasting the beautifully made sandwich.
"What did you add to this, Hudson?" She couldn't believe someone's dish could be this amazing.
She felt every nerve in her body relaxing as she ate more of the muffins. "Hmm," she moaned to the taste of the food. No one has ever made her react to food like this, not even once and not even her ex-boyfriend.
'I can't believe a monster can cook this good.'
At that moment, it felt like all her life dilemmas had disappeared. She was happy after a long time and felt the will to live. Accepting this life would mean so much to her.
She had stayed with her parents her whole life but when she thought deeply about the moments she spent with Logan, which was just yesterday, she told herself how it was better to live with a monster and be free than staying with a complete human who made life a living hell for her.
Two days passed by but the owner of the house had not returned nor did Adalyn receive a message from him.
Seeing this, Adalyn refused to be jobless and decided to make the house look a bit like the way she wanted it, so she started with her room.
It appeared easy to her when she was plotting the changes but when it came to her executing her plot, she found it extremely difficult but she wasn't giving up.
She got some wallpaper from the storage room and used it to replace the one initially in her room. That took her four hours and after that, she took a break and returned to changing the appearance of her room to her liking.
In two days, Adalyn achieved the look she wanted and was happy about it. She felt proud of herself after looking around. She made sure that her room was screaming pink just by glancing at it and seeing that she succeeded, she felt satisfied. So, she took a picture of her room.
In the next five days whenever it didn't rain, Adalyn was busy with the surroundings of the house already settling with the assumption that Logan Hudson was never returning. Perhaps, he had an accident or he died or he didn't want her anymore. She wasn't really bothered about that because she was happy that she could start a new life now.
Adalyn cleaned the yard and realized that the reason she felt the place was scary was because the dead leaves from the trees around them made the place look like a graveyard. After cleaning everywhere around the building, she felt even more proud of herself.
In twelve days, the house and everything felt like home to Adalyn at last. Now that she was satisfied with the house, it was time she knew about the place she was in, especially when she hated the way the gate looked.
She left her house the next morning and walked through the woods. Going forward, she landed on a street where cars and other vehicles were passing through.
"Wow, I guess I'm still on Earth. I thought he took me off the planet." Of course, she was being sarcastic.
Looking left and right, she decided to pick her right. After a few minutes of walking, she found more buildings and not trees.
She entered the busy road and realized that there were supermarkets and stores. Learning this made her regret using some methods in achieving some changes in that house when she could have just come to the supermarket to get equipment that would make things simple.
'Well, it is all gone now.'
She saw nail and hair salons. She saw a coffee shop. There were mostly coffee shops and restaurants so she decided to enter one of the coffee shops.
Standing in front of the barista, she looked around, wondering which city she was at the moment.
"Having a good day?" The male barista asked.
Adalyn smiled at him. "Never been better," she replied.
"That's great. I hope I can make it better by getting your order…"
Adalyn asked what they had on their menu and ordered. The barista told her to get a seat while he prepared her order.
She agreed but before she left, she had to ask what state she was in at the moment.
"Where?" She asked.
