Seeing no one in the room. Kai took a deep breath as he stepped out of the small wooden room, his mind still buzzing with the events of the previous day. The moment he appeared, Lilith, who had been floating nearby with a restless expression, looking here and there. Seeing Kai her face immediately brightened.
"Kai! You're back!" she exclaimed, her voice laced with relief.
Kai smiled and then teased with a grin. "Did you miss me that much?"
Lilith's cheeks flushed slightly, but she quickly composed herself and with a pout said. "I was just... worried you know! You suddenly fell unconscious and didn't wake up for hours."
Then with a slightly embarrassed look she continued. "And then I fell asleep waiting. When I finally woke up you were nowhere to be found. I tried searching but couldn't find you, I couldn't even find that powerful senior."
"Where did you even go!? I thought you left me behind!" Lilith asked with a slightly angry face.
Kai chuckled. "Had some real-world matters to attend to, and don't be silly I won't ever abandon you!" He said with a smile and patted Lilith's head, at least tried to since his hands phased through it.
Lilith raised an eyebrow, not understanding the meaning behind his words. But hearing the last words and his kind gesture she slightly blushed felling a warm and comfortable sensation welling in her heart, all her worries instantly vanished.
As if on cue, the space in front of them distorted and a silhouette materialized, his arms crossed and his expression unreadable.
"Took you long enough," the old man grumbled.
"I was beginning to think you'd fled out of fear." He said with a mocking look.
Kai smiled. "And miss out on such an opportunity? Not a chance."
"Yeah, yeah. So? Are you ready to continue now?" The old man asked.
Kai's face turned serious and he nodded. His eyes containing determination and confidence.
"Before we start, I shall award you for completing the first trial." The old man waved his hand and a silver-colored small ring flew towards Kai.
Kai caught the peculiar ring and inspected it.
[Spacial Ring]
[Grade: King]
[Description: Contains an entire pocket dimension within to store items. This small ring can store an entire mansion]
[Effect: Storage]
[Requirement: None]
"It's a spacial ring, I noticed you don't have one so you can have this. The reward is inside it, try to use the ring and take it out, it's pretty easy to use." The old man said.
'So, it's like an inventory huh…' Kai thought as he tried to use the ring. 'Woah… this is pretty neat I can see the large space inside the ring!'
"Hmm, that must be the reward." In the middle of the space, he could spot a small wooden box.
Kai took the ordinary looking wooden box out of the ring and opened it. Inside it was a small book with the title 'Fire Missile.' He opened the book and turned the pages as he studied it with interest.
[Learnt Fire Missile]
[Grade: Star Rank 5]
[Description: Shoots a missile made up of fire. The size and power depend on the mana used]
[Effect: Varying effects based on the amount of mana used]
[Requirement: Mana Capacity - 3000, Mental Strength – 120, Stamina - 100]
"It's a magic technique. Not only did you not have any cultivation when you were in such a dangerous region, all you brought with you was a crude steel sword. I wonder how you even made it here alive." Old man Hanxian shook his head and said.
Kai could only wryly smile in response. He himself has constantly cursed the game for spawning him in the middle of a forest filled with magic beasts. But now he thinks maybe it was worthy since he is able to encounter this unique area.
"Alright I will give you a day to learn the technique. I will be back tomorrow." The old man said as his body began to distort.
"Senior! Please wait!" Kai shouted hurriedly.
The old man stopped as he looked at Kai with a frown. "What? Do you want to ask something? Didn't I tell you that I will only answer your questions if you pass my trial." He said with a displeased tone.
"Umm… but I have already learnt the technique… We can start the next trial now." Kai said.
"What did you say??!!" The old man asked, thinking he must have heard wrong.
"I learnt the technique." Kai repeated.
"…"
"…"
They both stared at each other in silence for a good minute.
Finally Old Man Hanxian broke the silence. "Y-You already learnt the technique?" He asked with sheer disbelief. To which Kai nodded.
The old man waved his hands as a dozen of human figures seemingly made out of some special material appeared in front of Kai.
"Use the spell on these figures then. They are made out of magic steel which although originally doesn't possess any mana, once it does come in contact with mana it can easily absorb and store mana within it. "
"It is commonly used for measuring the attack power of techniques and attacks since it is pretty durable and the more mana you store in it, the tougher it gets. I have already filled it with enough mana to stop attacks on your cultivation level. Go on and use the spell!" He spoke.
Kai nodded and raised his hands up facing a figure a few meters away.
Kai closed his eyes as he followed the things written on the book.
Mana withing his body started flowing rapidly as it travelled towards his hand. Just in front of his hand a small fire orb started materializing. In just a few seconds the concentration of mana within the orb grew by leaps and bounds and the fire turned blue, it gave off a dangerous and frightening aura.
[Mana Capacity: 6450/6500] The technique consumed 50 mana to create.
"What?! Blue Flame!!!" The old man exclaimed with shock.
"Fire Missile!" Kai shouted.
The fire orb charged towards the figure like a missile with top speed.
*Boom*
An explosion occurred as it came in contact with the figure and smoke spread everywhere. Old man Hanxian waved his hands and the smoke cleared.
As the after scene became clear the old man's eyes widened. Lilith looked at the scene with admiration filled eyes.
The perfectly fine figure made out of an extremely durable item, to which someone of Kai's level shouldn't even be able to scratch is now completely obliterated. The chest area where Kai aimed is completely decimated with no remains and the areas around it are completely engulfed in ever burning flames.
The dazzling flames continued burning and consuming its target in a frightening rate like a hungry beast, till there was nothing left of the figure.
'His power level exceeded the normal absorption rate of the magic steel and overloaded it to the point that it made it explode!!!' Old man Hanxian screamed within his mind.
Kai didn't stop there and this time he materialized 10 fire missiles at the same time, each giving off the same dangerous feeling as the last one.
'What!! How can someone at his Cultivation Stage have so pure and dense mana? Besides he shouldn't even be able to make 5 fire missiles much less this many!!' Old man Hanxian inwardly shouted.
[Mana Capacity: 5970/6500] 500 mana was instantly depleted as 10 more explosions resounded and 10 more figures were destroyed.
"Woah!!! This is so much fun!!!!!" Kai giggled. He was totally engrossed with the process as he totally forgot about everything else and started making more and more fire missiles and fired it at the defenseless figures.
'Hmm… I swear I just saw that figure shaking with fear.' Lilith internally said as she watched the massacre with interest.
Soon Kai became a battle maniac as he constantly threw fire missiles at all directions and explosions sounded everywhere and the momentary remains of the figures flew here and there. Fire spread across the entire area making it look like an aftermath of a big war.
"WWWWHHHHHATTTT TTTHHHEEE FUCCCKKKK IIIIISSSS THISSSS!!!!?????" The old man finally lost it and shouted out loud. Feeling as if centuries of life span was erased off his non-existent life.
