Chapter 14 - Meeting Alice for the First Time – Only Cars Over a Million Will Do

Alice furrowed her brows as she glanced at the phone number. Why is this guy so persistent?

"Sorry, my restaurant is not for sale," she said coldly, without any room for negotiation.

"Well, you don't have to sell your restaurant," Jack replied with a smile. "But could you help me get rid of these two pests next to me? They're seriously ruining my appetite."

Hearing that someone was causing a scene in her restaurant, Alice couldn't sit still any longer. She quickly got up and began to change.

"Pfft…"

Luke Anderson had overheard Jack's phone call, acting all serious like he was about to buy the restaurant. He couldn't hold back his laughter.

"Hahaha, this is killing me. He actually wants to buy Spring Blossom & Autumn Moon restaurant? What a joke! Though I'll admit, he really knows how to act the part."

Jack couldn't be bothered to deal with this idiot.

At that moment, a woman in a red coat walked down the stairs. Seeing a small crowd gathered near Jack, she quickly made her way over.

Jack looked up. The woman was wearing a vibrant red coat, with softly curled auburn hair. Her face was makeup-free but strikingly beautiful, and her clothes looked hastily thrown on—clearly, she had come in a rush. The sound of her red heels echoed across the floor as she approached.

"Hi, did you just call?" Alice asked, turning her gaze toward Jack.

He was handsome, with a calm and confident demeanor. Her heart involuntarily skipped a beat. But when she noticed the stunning woman beside him—Emily—she realized she had misunderstood him. With such a beautiful companion, how could he be hitting on her?

Jack nodded and pointed at Luke and Sarah.

"These two have been loitering around, totally ruining my appetite. Mind asking them to leave?"

Alice turned her cold gaze toward Luke.

"Sir, if you're here to dine, please take a seat. If not, I kindly ask that you leave and stop disturbing our guests."

Luke was momentarily stunned by Alice's beauty. But her frosty tone quickly snapped him back to reality.

He glanced bitterly at Jack, then stomped his foot in frustration before huffing and heading for the door.

"I apologize for the disturbance, sir. Today's meal is on a 50% discount," Alice said sincerely.

"Thanks," Jack replied. He knew the situation had nothing to do with the restaurant and didn't hold it against them. Sure, he wasn't short on money, but a discount was still a discount.

Alice smiled faintly before walking away.

The rest of Jack's meal went smoothly. The earlier unpleasantness faded quickly.

After finishing their meal, Jack and Emily decided to go car shopping. His sports car, the Venom, was nice—but with limited seating, it had caused awkward moments like last time when he had to send Samantha home and they had to call a cab.

Emily lit up with excitement at the mention of car shopping.

Jack drove the Venom to the largest luxury car mall in Riverton—Heavenly Auto Plaza. After parking, he wrapped an arm around Emily's waist and strolled inside.

They entered the showroom of one of the top dealerships. A young saleswoman in a black business suit approached with a bright smile.

"Good afternoon, sir, ma'am. Are you interested in any specific models today?"

Jack, dressed in designer brands, and Emily with her clearly limited-edition luxury handbag, gave off unmistakable signs of wealth.

"Not really. Just show us around," Jack said casually. He hadn't made up his mind yet, so he figured they'd browse first.

"Of course. This way, please," the saleswoman said, gesturing politely.

As they walked, she asked, "Do you have a budget range in mind?"

"Not really," Jack replied. "We'll just take a look."

The saleswoman began to doubt herself for a moment. Is he really rich? But she quickly composed herself—no matter what, she had to give top-notch service.

She led them to the family sedan section, where cars were priced under $300,000. Jack glanced around but said nothing.

"Maybe we should check out a different section?" the saleswoman suggested, testing the waters.

Before Jack could respond, a mocking voice rang out behind them.

"Even if you show him the whole showroom, he's not buying anything."

Jack didn't need to turn around to know it was Luke Anderson again—with Sarah Benson, no doubt.

What's with these two? Did I step on some bad luck today or something? Why do I keep running into them?

The saleswoman looked at Luke with confusion.

"He's only here to impress girls," Luke sneered, laughing toward the saleswoman. "That's the whole act."

Jack had had enough.

"You two idiots seriously need to get a life. Whether I can afford it or not has nothing to do with you."

Luke scoffed. "Keep pretending, Jack. Let's see how long you can keep this act going."

Jack didn't want to waste another word. Talking to idiots would only lower his IQ.

He turned back to the saleswoman. "Let's skip anything under a million. Show us the high-end models."

Though shaken by Luke's words, the saleswoman chose to trust her own judgment.

"Absolutely, sir. Right this way."

"Tsk. Only looking at cars over a million? You trying to reach for the stars now?" Luke mocked with a curled lip, still following behind while holding Sarah close.

He clearly wasn't done. He wanted to watch Jack make a fool of himself—wanted to see him humiliated when he couldn't afford anything. That, he thought, would be sweet revenge.

Jack soon found himself admiring some high-end models—definitely worthy for occasional joyrides. Then he noticed Emily staring off into the distance.

He followed her gaze to the center of the showroom, where a fiery red sports car was parked like a spotlight.

"What car is that?" Jack asked the saleswoman, pointing toward it.

"That's the new Falakra by Falak, sir. Just released this year—priced at $600,000."

The saleswoman's eyes lit up as she spoke. She clearly adored the car as much as Jack and Emily did—it was a thing of beauty.

"Do you like it?" Jack asked Emily.

"I love it," she replied, eyes sparkling. "But… it's a bit pricey."

"Then let's buy it," Jack said with a grin.

Luke once again popped out from behind them, cackling obnoxiously.

"Oh man, I can't anymore. Your level of bullsh*t is unreal."

Jack was completely done with this guy.

Without another word, he pulled out his card and handed it to the saleswoman.

"We'll take all the cars over a million."
