Chapter 13 - Spring Flowers, Autumn Moon, Money Can't Buy Everything

"Take a shot in this pose."

"Make the angle a bit wider, yes, more open—perfect, nice."

"Quick, let me see, it looks great. I love it, even I like how it turned out."

"Come on, you sit on top, I'll take the shot."

"Alright, let's do this pose, now let's try another one."

"How is it? Let me take a look."

Jack wrapped his arm around Emily's waist as they walked out of the mall and into the underground parking lot. To his surprise, two women were sitting on top of his Viper sports car, striking an uncomfortable pose. Jack was utterly speechless.

He let go of his wandering hand on Emily's waist and walked up to the car, saying in disgust, "Move over, get down now."

The two women looked up and saw Jack, their eyes lighting up. But upon seeing his youthful face, they immediately assumed he couldn't be wealthy. In their minds, a rich man had to be someone fat and balding.

They looked at Jack's face but decided to hold their tongues. They were out today to catch a rich guy, but certainly not a broke pretty boy like him.

Getting a closer look, Jack found these two women even more repulsive.

Big, thick legs, ultra-short skirts, and their waists looked like oversized water bottles. To make things worse, they had heavy makeup on, and Jack could clearly see the thick freckles underneath.

"Get down, now," Jack said again when they didn't move.

They glared back at him, unwilling to budge.

"Hmph, what's it to you? We're not getting off," one of the women snapped.

"Come on, keep snapping, why hasn't the car owner arrived yet? We've been waiting forever."

"Patience, rich guys aren't that easy to catch. Stay calm," the other woman added.

Emily couldn't take it anymore and burst out laughing.

The two women saw Emily laughing and assumed she was stunned by their appearance. As fellow women, they felt a bit proud.

"Sis, sticking with a guy like this is a dead-end. You should find a rich older man, that's the way out for women. Don't waste your youth. I'm living proof of it."

"Sis, listen to me, leave this poor boy. He's not worth your time."

Emily secretly snickered, glancing at Jack, who had a stormy expression.

Jack couldn't take it anymore and walked up to the women, pulling them off the car. He hated getting physical with women, but these two idiots were too much to handle.

"Ow!""Ouch, that hurts so bad!"

Jack didn't bother with them anymore. He took out his keys, and the car's dazzling lights flashed on. The butterfly doors swung open.

The two women stood frozen, mouths wide open as if struck by a spell.

Jack and Emily got into the car, and with a rev of the engine, they sped off, leaving the women in a cloud of exhaust fumes. Their carefully done makeup was immediately ruined, turning their faces into a dark mess.

Emily couldn't stop laughing. Just the thought of Jack's angry face made her laugh even more. Watching Jack getting annoyed really delighted her.

Jack's face was still as black as coal, and when he saw Emily enjoying herself, it made him even angrier. He reached over and pinched her thigh. Emily squealed in pain and slapped his hand away.

"Hey, that hurt!" she pouted, angry but also a little playful.

"Who told you to laugh so much? Didn't you see that I'm mad?" Jack said, his mood improving after teasing Emily a little.

Afterward, Jack drove to a car wash to get the car cleaned, wanting to remove any remnants of the two women's presence.

Once the car was clean, they headed to a high-end restaurant called Spring Flowers, Autumn Moon for dinner. On the way there, Jack occasionally teased Emily, feeling a lot better. Emily gave him a series of playful eye-rolls in return.

Just as they were about to order, a sarcastic voice came from behind.

"Isn't that Jack, the big spender?"

"Got some pocket money this month?"

It was a young man around Jack's age, dressed in brand-name clothes. His pale face clearly indicated a life of overindulgence.

A woman was linked to his arm, carrying a designer bag. Her makeup was flawless, and her beauty was striking, with features that turned heads effortlessly.

It was Jack's college classmate, Luke Anderson, and his ex-girlfriend, Sarah Benson.

The name Luke sounded decent, but combined with his last name, it felt more like Luke Without Morals, considering his actions.

Jack was instantly annoyed upon seeing them. How could he run into these kinds of people when all he wanted was a peaceful dinner?

Especially Sarah—he'd spent so much money on her in the past, only to end up getting betrayed. Jack resented her deeply, and even though she had a pretty face, he couldn't help but feel disgusted by her.

"No morals, what's it to you?" Jack said coldly, returning to his menu.

"Beautiful lady, don't be fooled by this guy. He's broke," Sarah said, putting on a fake smile.

"I bet this meal probably took up his month's savings. He's just trying to get you into bed," Luke chimed in.

"Yeah, yeah, don't fall for his lies. He tried the same thing with me, but luckily I found someone better," Sarah added, as if Jack had wronged her in some way.

Emily glanced at them, then looked at Jack. She was curious about Jack's past—what kind of person he had been to end up with someone like Sarah.

Jack felt embarrassed. When he was with Sarah, he had been stingy with his own money, always saving up for her. He'd spent most of his pocket money just to keep her happy. Thinking back on it, he really felt like a fool.

These two people kept buzzing in his ears like annoying flies, ruining what had been a much better mood.

"System, find me the phone number of the owner of Spring Flowers, Autumn Moon," Jack muttered under his breath.

Jack dialed the number, and a lazy woman's voice answered the phone. Jack directly said,"I want to buy your restaurant, Spring Flowers and Autumn Moon."

Alice was lying lazily on her bed, thinking it was just another admirer. She was stunned when she heard Jack's words.

Seeing that she didn't respond, Jack continued,"Twice the market price."

Alice, with a seductive voice, said two words, "Not for sale."She immediately hung up on Jack.

Jack was surprised that she could resist the temptation of money. He chuckled, realizing he had underestimated people in this world. He picked up the phone and dialed again.
