Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: The Beginning of the Mansion Incident

But before he could finish his sentence, Aiden Psycho, having achieved his goal, made his move.

He quickly extended his right hand and forcefully slammed Robert Kendo's head onto the counter. With a bang, Robert was hit so hard that his head spun and he felt dizzy.

However, Robert's body was very strong, and he had also received military training. After all, his brother had once participated in part of S.T.A.R.S.'s training. Under such circumstances, he still tried to fight back, even reaching for the pistol at his waist.

But at such a close distance, drawing a gun was undoubtedly a very foolish move. At that distance, nothing was faster than hands. Just as his hand touched the pistol, Aiden Psycho's fist had already landed on his chin.

Smack!

That heavy punch knocked Robert Kendo out instantly. He didn't even make a sound.

Looking at the gun shop owner collapsed on the ground, Aiden Psycho clapped his hands and shook his head, saying, "American-style Iaido... so that's all it is!"

But he also knew that it was because the other party had been too careless. If Robert had been fully prepared, it wouldn't have been so easy to succeed.

Next, Aiden Psycho dragged the gun shop owner to a corner, then closed the shop door before beginning to search for the equipment he needed.

Because he was dealing with non-human creatures, Aiden Psycho naturally skipped over those bolt-action weapons that looked powerful. But since the U.S. had long forbidden gun shops from selling automatic firearms, his range of choices was actually quite limited.

After careful consideration, Aiden Psycho finally chose two AR-15s as his main weapons.

Actually, he also found a Type 56 submachine gun, but it was clearly an old weapon. The rifling was almost worn out. Other than as a collector's item, it wasn't very useful. So he only removed the tri-edged bayonet attached to it to use as a dagger.

With suitable rifles in hand, next came handguns. This part was much simpler. Aiden Psycho picked one Beretta 92 and one Glock 17.

Actually, Aiden Psycho originally only planned to bring two Berettas. For him, the Glock with its double safety was actually quite dangerous. But he unexpectedly found extended magazines for the Glock in the store, which immediately made him change his mind.

He tucked the Glock pistol into his waistband, then packed the rest of the guns into a large black backpack, including the shotgun. He then stuffed bullets and magazines inside until he felt it would start affecting his movement, and then finally stopped.

With the bag on his back, Aiden Psycho didn't leave immediately. He looked at the clock in the shop, and only when it was nearing six o'clock and the sky was getting dark did he get up.

And before leaving, Aiden Psycho didn't forget to leave a note for the unconscious Robert, "This was a fair trade."

Although the other party might not understand it when he woke up, Aiden Psycho did it just to comfort himself. After all, he had robbed the man's guns, and he still felt a bit guilty inside.

Walking out of the gun shop, there happened to be a taxi parked by the roadside. Aiden Psycho silently thought his luck was not bad and waved at the taxi.

"Hey, buddy, where to?" The driver, a black man, probably noticed Aiden Psycho wasn't a local and acted very enthusiastically.

"Out of town, to the Arklay Mountains." Aiden Psycho threw his backpack into the back seat, then sat in the front passenger seat before speaking.

"Dude, are you joking?" As expected, upon hearing the destination, the black driver looked shocked. "Don't you know what's happening over there? Damn it, several people have already died there."

"Of course I know. I'm not joking with you. Now, let's go immediately." Aiden Psycho glanced at the time on the dashboard. It was already past six.

"No." The black driver raised his voice, his anger overriding his desire for money. "Sir, please get out of the car, or I…"

But halfway through his sentence, the black driver's expression changed from anger to fear, because Aiden Psycho had already pulled out his Glock pistol.

"Or what?" Aiden Psycho pressed the gun against the driver's waist while searching him and the driver's area at the same time.

"Or I can only take you there… but that area is already blocked off by the police." The black man said in despair. This Asian man's level of professionalism had completely made him give up any thoughts of resisting.

"That's your problem to solve." Aiden Psycho pocketed the M1911 pistol he had just taken from the driver and said, "The Arklay Mountains are so big, there's no way the police can block off everything. And since you can be a taxi driver in Raccoon City, you must be familiar with the surrounding area, so you definitely know a way."

The black driver couldn't refute Aiden Psycho's words. Indeed, as a taxi driver, being familiar with the terrain was basic professional knowledge.

"Fine, okay, I'll take you there. Just please don't hurt me." The driver replied with a long face, starting the car.

Just as Aiden Psycho expected, Raccoon City's police force wasn't enough to block every exit. As they neared the city limits, the black driver turned into a hidden side road.

After some bumps, the taxi left the city. Then the driver used another path to get the car back onto the highway. A dozen minutes later, the taxi reached a densely forested area.

Aiden Psycho tapped the window and called out, "Stop here."

Hearing this, the black driver immediately hit the brakes. After turning off the engine, he quickly got out, pulled out all the cash from his body and placed it on the hood, then knelt by the taxi with his hands on his head.

"Sir, please don't kill me. I still have several kids to raise." The black man looked at Aiden Psycho, his voice full of pleading.

Aiden Psycho was stunned by the man's practiced behavior and only regained his senses after a long moment, silently impressed. 'No wonder they call it the land of the free, even this kind of guy exists.'

Clearing his throat, Aiden Psycho pointed the gun at the driver and asked, "That might be a problem. After all, you've seen my face."

"No, no…" the driver quickly replied, "I can't remember what you look like at all. Honestly, to me, all you Asians look the same."

Aiden Psycho agreed with that. He also couldn't remember foreigners' faces.

"Alright, I was just messing with you. I'm a good person. I definitely wouldn't kill anyone randomly." Aiden Psycho moved the gun away. He hadn't planned to kill this unlucky driver anyway.

"Thank you, thank you…" Seeing Aiden Psycho didn't seem to be lying, the black driver let out a small sigh of relief but still didn't dare get up, continuing to kneel with his hands clasped in prayer, trying to please him.

Aiden Psycho smiled and ignored him. He placed the backpack on the hood, opened it, and began loading bullets into the magazines using a speed loader.

Half an hour later, Aiden Psycho had filled all the magazines. He checked the car's clock. It was already past 7 o'clock, but there was still some time before Alpha Team set out.

After waiting for a while, Aiden Psycho simply lit a cigarette. After smoking through half a pack, he finally heard the sound of helicopter rotors.

S.T.A.R.S.'s Alpha Team had arrived.

Watching the helicopter fly past, Aiden Psycho flicked his half-smoked cigarette to the ground and crushed it with his toe. Then he said to the still-kneeling black driver, "You can go now."

The black driver, whose legs were numb from kneeling, looked at Aiden Psycho in disbelief, "You… really aren't going to kill me?"

Aiden Psycho couldn't be bothered to answer such a boring question. He slung his bag over his back, picked up an AR-15, and walked in the direction the helicopter had flown. After a few steps, he turned back and said, "If you can, you'd better leave Raccoon City as soon as possible."

"Why?" The black man looked confused.

Aiden Psycho forcefully pulled the charging handle, chambering a round, and said darkly, "Because this place is about to become hell."

———

In the forest, Aiden Psycho cautiously moved toward the direction the gunshots had come from.

Of course, he knew that it was Alpha Team being ambushed by zombie dogs while investigating Bravo Team's crashed helicopter. This made him stay on high alert.

To be honest, no matter how brave or calm he was, walking alone in a forest where zombies could appear at any time was still a bit nerve-wracking.

Suddenly, a rustling sound came from the bushes not far away. Aiden Psycho immediately stopped, pointing his gun in that direction. The flashlight mounted on his rifle lit up the area.

Under the beam of light, a rabbit jumped out of the bushes in a panic.

Seeing it was just a rabbit, Aiden Psycho breathed a sigh of relief and muttered, "Still too nervous."

Calming himself, Aiden Psycho continued moving forward. The gunshots were no longer audible. He could only hope he hadn't gone the wrong way earlier.

Perhaps Lady Luck really was watching over him. About ten minutes later, he found the wrecked helicopter used by Bravo Team in a clearing.

Aiden Psycho quickly moved up to inspect it. Before entering the mansion, he wanted to see if he could find anything useful inside.

Although he already carried a large amount of ammunition, civilian firearms simply couldn't compare to police-issue equipment. If he could find any intact weapons or throwables, that would be ideal.

Unfortunately, the crashed helicopter had caught fire. The interior was completely charred, and nothing remained.

With a helpless sigh, Aiden Psycho could only leave in disappointment.

At this point, he no longer needed to determine the direction, because there were footprints all around the helicopter. Even without the reconnaissance skills he learned in training, he could follow the tracks to the mansion.

As expected, guided by the footprints, Aiden Psycho soon saw an old-style building standing in the forest.

The moment he laid eyes on the building, a lightning bolt flashed across the sky, adding an intense horror atmosphere. At the same time, a system notification sounded in his mind.
